OC3d est. 5/22/02 in the early morning hours by NaSsoccer and Arkaine23.

Stanford's Top 30!

OC3d is comprised of members of the Overclockers.com 3dmark Team who collectively Fold proteins for Team 32 and for the Folding@home project's noble cause. In general, we do not have individual stats (unless we keep a few rigs stashed on the side). A link to the O/C 3dmark team's little, but ever-expanding site and database can be found in my signature.

OC3d is in a race with Team 64's formidable subteam- The_Raging_Dutchmen. They number only 5 and currently average over 400 points/week each!! A guy by the handle of CoolLion is their usual spokesman over here. A bit of smack-talking between the subteams is a given, and we don't take it personally. In fact, it really helps to motivate us to fold as many WU's as fast as we can. Still, the O/C forums rules apply, so no personal attacks please. It's been a hallmark of this subteam race that the Dutchmen and OC 3dmarkers have maintained a friendly competition in the true spirit of the Folding@home project. Remember, we're all donating our CPU power for humanity and are brothers in the Fold even if we fold for different teams.

The members of OC3d choose not to actively compete with our fellow members of Team 32. We ask that our folding brethren ignore our stats in Team 32's ranks just as Team 0's stats are ignored when comparing team stats. We do not fold for glory within Team 32, but fold for Team 32's glory world-wide. Our members apologize to those who think the practice of sub-teaming is unfair, cheating, or otherwise not cool. We founded OC3d with the intent to build a bridge between the Video/sound forum and the Folding@home forum and thus transpopulate the two sections to improve the strength of both the OC3dmark Team and Team 32.

From time to time the good people of Team 32 have supported us in our race by donating Work Units. We thank you guys immensely!! You are welcome to fold WU's with us anytime and your generosity will be acknowledged on our upcoming webpage and in this thread. We consider you honorary members of OC3d, and we hope that when our production is good that we can return the favor by donating WU's to you or at least to those who need them most. If we can just outpace the Dutchmen, or even if we can't, it would still be nice if OC3d could be known for its philanthropy as well as for its collective folding power.

Let's get this going right OC3d... sound-off and lets tabulate our combined folding power! Matthew1001 was willing to help us with a little webpage, but we need to supply the data and the old thread seems to have become too bloated anyway. Please designate whether each computer is generally full-time or part-time. If a rig is down but will be up again soon, list it. This is hard enough to keep track of as it is. Expect a roll call every few months, when our current thread starts to get bloated. We'd appreciate PM'd updates (for changes in Mhz that will last more than 2 weeks) on rig status as well.

OC3d members will have to compete for their ranks by building bigger farms, but Honorary members just need to give me a request. If I've forgotten anyone, please be patient and inform me, all this is very hard to keep track of. Sometimes I'm not sure who is sticking with OC3d and who is helping us temporarily. So anyone who's folded any WU's for OC3d please post in this thread with details.

25 Ghz from the 1st three posts!!! Can I get a woot!??

Kato: Are the local bed bugs cross-breeding with Folding bugs? You seem to have been bitten by those pesky folding bugs a whole lot!! WTG!!! I think you'll hold the top spot on OC3d for a good long while. Several of those rigs may be folding only part-time, but they ARE all AMD, and a part-time AMD rig beats a full-time intel rig any day(at folding)...

New_Novice: I'm really glad you've decided to put a few rigs for OC3d permanently. You've been an asset to our subteam in those moments when we feared the Dutchmen would have the last laugh. We're glad to have you aboard. Guess the competition with those Dutchies can be infectious....

Edit:
Walter:-) : My memory is not great, but I thought you'd left to work on your own farm. You will always be welcome among us as an honorary member. You may choose a rank/designation such as the examples I put up for the other honorary members if you like.

Wega!

I have two rigs right now folding for OC3d and they are full time until the end.

Duron - 1380MHz
XP - 1664MHz

I am also going to be adding a AGOIA Y this week. Ordered from newegg on Sat. Hopefully it comes with this stepping. Regardless it will be another folder for OC3d.

How do I become a member of OC3dmark team Arkaine/NAS. Just go to the web page? and sign up?

Exar,

I'd been waiting to hear from you... was pretty sure you'd been bitten by the OC3d folding bug (a sub-species of those typical pesky insects).

To join:

There's a sign up sheet on the OC3dmark page which is linked in my sig. You just need to make a run of 3dmark2001 (www.madonion.com) and submit one or more scores for us. I suggest checking the 3dmark Team sticky (http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75571), mid-way down the 1st page, where I wrote some guidlines for team members to follow when benchmarking. We compare any of 3 score types:

1 Default- system and video card a default speeds. Must run every test. This is a baseline score.

2 Stable- Our main stay. As long as you can game for a few hours or loop 3dmark... well you get the idea. A stable overclock of both your system and video card. Must run every test and have no artfacting.

3 Suicide- It is possible to overclock a card or your cpu into instabilty yet still complete a single short run of 3dmark. This is the highest score you can get, period. We don't recommend trying for this category because it can damage your hardware, however this is how a few of us make our mark in the upper ranks of Madonion's database. Artifacts ok. Only the Game tests need be run.

There are also labeling guidelines, as each time you run 3dmark you can make a title for that particular run and add a description. We feel the more information in the description, the more useful OC3dmark's database of scores will be. And its important that our team's name is mentioned in the benchmark's title so that we can advertise the forums.

Check the sticky for more details or just ask. If you're unfamiliar with 3dmark, its important to check the published box for your best scores. Then you copy the compare url link and paste it into a simple email form on our webpage.

Here's an example-

Thanks arkaine. I have a stable 2000 points. Try and beat that. I am going to work on ocing my vc and see if I can get higher. I might wait until I get a ti200-4200 soon. My score is too laughable right now. I will go through again and see what I can do with the ol mx200 clocked to a 400. (This is what I show as in sandra right now.)

Bug...wish I could find out where it bit me. I sure do feel the effects though:):D

Arkaine23
08-11-02, 09:06 AM
All cards are welcome. Tweaking the most from an older card is just as good as tweaking a whizz-bang Ti4600. We allow our members to hold scores in several catergories should they upgrade a CPU or video card. And people who have the same card(s) that you do might scope our database and find the info in your benchmark helpful. Its a multi-tiered tweaking competition, and the bigger O/C's 3dmarks database gets, the more useful it becomes, much like the CPU database on the main page.

Be sure to let me know once you get the new XP up and folding! :)

Yeah heehee, I've been bitten all over by the OC3d bugs:D
Thanks Arkaine23, but I'm sure for total output I'm not the highest. Those PT rigs only folds for an average 2-8 hrs per day, so although one or two from them can put out a wu or two per day, other takes longer. The only PT rig thats producing the most wu is the xp@1880(my rig, only shut it down at night due to extreme noise!!!), and the other ones are from my sisters and friends. I can't force them to fold FT(...or can I?;) ). But once I get those 2 old rig from the fram changed to XP, my production should be quite high:D

Guru of Fold.....Muuhahaaahaaha!!!!!:D But there are other member who make more production than me, I'm sure at least 5 members can pass me in terms of production, so can I have:
Ku-Fold Master ?:D

gtsimmo and BamBamXk... I left every member out of the list for a reason. As soon as our permanent members report in, they are added. I listed as many of our temporary helpers as I could recall to show appreciation for their help. I'm very sorry if I've forgotten any of our honorary members, but it is difficult to keep track of so many people.

If anyone has some ideas for ranks/descriptors, whether for the permanent OC3d crew or for honorary members, post them!! If you have a permanent rig with OC3d, your Mhz are added to our total. I'm sorry that we can't keep track of the boxen that come and go.

Rich99million: By all means, if you enjoy our little race with the Dutchmen, then help us out. We won't mind a bit.

Azhari: Thank you!!! Our lead over the Dutchmen is getting smaller and smaller. Do you intend to stick with us for a while?

That is another thing the Dutchies should be made aware of. We're having the mother of all contests in about 2 weeks and it will run for two months. This is part of why the push to 10k was such a big deal to OC3d, since a lot of our strength will disband for the duration of the contest.

I will probably only join the contest if there are a waterblock, tbred, or cd burner among the prizes.... only things I could really use right now. And if I did, I would probably only put my fastest XP rig back to my old folding username. The rest will stay for OC3d regardless.

We sure could use those 11 athlons, NaS!!!

Cullam, you will have a good chance of winning the contest as there will be several prizes and I am sure NAS wouldn't set it up to reward only power folders. Don't be discouraged. Your 800 megs are just as important as the 10-15 gigs that some people have.

Sorry, I must have punched in the wrong number on the calc. Add 2.6 gigs for me. Dang. I multied x 850 insted of 650. I got my agoia y today, so I should be adding another 600 megs from the 3 gigs that was in the systems in my siggy. I will let you know soon. I have a couple more rigs I didn't get to that I will add to oc3d soon. I'd say another 2 or 3 gigs.

I don't know how I screwed up the addition but I have 6.564 folding for OC3d right now.

duron @ 1.38
xp 1700 @ 1.664
tbird @ .920
4 p3 @ 650 each = 2.6

Sorry about that

AHHHH hammer to calculator edit. one last change to the total. most of you won't see my error.!!

Man...I folded almost 50 points in 20 hours? On just 7 rigs. I must have got an added boost from somewhere. The crappy thing is that I had almost all these switched to OC3d and it did't take. I forgot to restart the client after I changed the cfg file. :( We would be less than ten points behind the dutchies:(

My bad.

ah where have i heard that one...j/k Thats what happened to the OC3d that was folding for team 0. It was corrected but it was never restarted for awhile.

IT's all good at least you caught it. IF your running alot of the p605/ 6 series it will boost your production up dramatically. I folded alittle over 20 pts overnight on my 4 rigs cause i got 17 of them in a roll till it got interrupted rudely by a bba5. :)

Check this thread (http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75571) about midway through the first page for some guidlines that Arkaine posted.

When you switch you username make sure it is OC3d (case sensitive) and you are well on your way.

Woot!!! Remember to restart the clients after changing the username.

Thepunkgeek!!! All those rigs in your signature except for the stock 1800+?? I like the evil P3- 666Mhz.

NaS, never underestimate the dark side of the Fold!! Those 1.1's will kick some Dutchie tail! Add them already!!

We're doing great everyone!! I thought we'd be hundreds of points behind those Dutchmen by now, but we're not. Gromacs may sting a bit if we have to back the fast rigs down a notch, but hopefully the point/time efficiency of the gromacs Wu's will help.

Our daily has stayed steady, but the Dutchies' daily production has dropped. I'd guess a lot of their CPU's are mid-speed Intels, and that the new proteins are hurting them bad, whereas our 60+ Ghz of AMD holds its own.

Hey Nas, good rules and prizes from the contest:D
I don't think we will be losing alot of power fromt he contest, since as far as I know, most of the OC3ds(including me) only have 1 rig going into the contest.

So how are we doing with the Dutchies?:D

Arkaine23
08-25-02, 02:56 AM
We are sitting within spitting distance.... between 30-50 points behind them. And we seem to be exactly matching daily production. It boggles my mind that we can go several updates in a row and have our day totals be within 1 point of each other. every rig counts! And I think the contest rules are great as well, though they will slow us down. I know we can catch it up.

The minimum points per week for the contest is 5 as far as I know, so I will be letting myself fold one five point WU per week on my old name, and then switching the rig back to OC3d, since it can do well more than 5/week. A little extra work, but it'll save OC3d a lot of points. I'm also getting really bitchy with my freinds and science teacher about getting the additional rigs up already. I can get a good 6 Ghz, 2/3 of it AMD up, but I'm still waiting after like a month!!! :grr: Hopefully, I can reinforce OC3d with 7 more rigs in the next week and get us a small lead on the Dutchmen before the contest starts.

News: CoolLion has dropped off the face of the earth. I hope he's doing ok. The Dutchies have already lost 12 rigs in the last week from unknown causes.

Hi guys,

We are ahead at the moment but we might not stay there for long. The constant retries from fah when servers are down are chocking the networks. Babutski (16 boxes) had to shut his folding farm down already for this reason and if it starts influencing my business I have to shut down part of the farm 2 until fah servers are more stable.

Thats not the problem little man. We get in trouble because the freaking client tries to connect every 10 sec if a server is down. with 50 fah clients on my network that creates a broadcast storm and that is not acceptable.

Are we picking up speed? We were behind the Dutchmen by almost 200 points only a day or two ago and now its more like 130. Two new XP's in the works is great news guys! I should get my last errant rig (an XP) up in the next few days. Things haven't been quite as exciting recently, but I'm poised and ready to dish out some smack if we can shrink the Dutchie lead to less than 100 points.

I know the contest is starting and all, but its not based in any way on production. So I'm just gonna turn one rig over to my old username and let it do 5 points (one WU the way things have been lately with all these p180's), and then switch it back to OC3d for the rest of the week. We may slip a bit, but if everyone participating in the contest just does the minimum of 5 points or so, we won't slip much at all.

Any time you switch usernames, you must restart the client. And if you run F@H as a service, you might as well go ahead and reboot.

Gtsimmo and I have a few rigs down right now, but with NaSsoccer and Lord_of_Decay working on some new XP's and with light at the end of the tunnel for my rig and GTS', I think we can pull ahead once the contest is over.

Edit: Oh and I just remembered I can get a couple of celerons going within a week, both in the neighborhood of 600 Mhz if I remember correctly.

Arkaine23
09-08-02, 05:45 AM
Our momentum has been slow to build, but it looks like we're definitley catching up. The Dutchies must be having some trouble. Their lead is less than 80 points now! Time to head over to rage and ask them what's going on.

Edit 9/8/02- News of the day: The Dutchies are having bandwidth issues. Their lead is only 33 points. It looks like tomorrow OC3d may pass them and storm Stanford's top 25 Users! It looks like now we'll have to set our sites elsewhere. The top of Stanford's list is getting crowded just like the top of Team 32's list. I'm sure I can find us a nice new adversary. For now, I've got my sites set on BPG...

PS- Stanford only shows 39 active cpu's this week, whereas according to the counts from our permanent members, there should be 80. I know I've got one down, and Gtsimmo lost a few, and NaS's and Exar's K6-2s (and any other slows ones and part-timers) may not show up in a week's count, but that still seems a little low to me.

Exar Jun

Here we go again fellas. At the last update, we are only 11 points behind the dutchies. 16004 - 15993!!! We will blow past them in the next update or two.

They have been hit like many of us with server issues. But the leftover procs are our AMD workhorses and the Dutchies only have Intels although many of them have seen the light and are starting to get AMD. Looks like it is going to be a cold winter in the Netherlands :)

i do hope none are taking that long:eek: but i can only imagine a 180 is going to kill them and/or any gromacs unit. i think i am gonna regret looking at the frame times :)

looks like my 4.5 ghz won't be folding for OC3d anymore. sorry about that fella, but security team keep asking why the pinging so it's been taken off for now....

well i have a little good news for you guys, i should reach my goal of 1k pts by the time the contest is over (it says 11/1 right now) so i will be able to join you guys then...i have 2.6 ghz of xp power and they pump out about 70-80 pts per week....i dont think you guys would mind that :)

not sure if i want to convert one of them as soon as i hit 1k (if its before the contest is over) or just wait for the contest to finish then switch them both over...hmmm, decisions...

Its ok New_novice, if FOLDING is troubling you at work, don't risk it. We rather have a member coming back to FOLDING, than a member out of work;)
DManeKid, you know our door is always open for you:D

Humm....what GTS did sounds like a good idea. After we pass Dutchie again, I will change most of my rigs under my name for a week, too see how much those AMD can do:beer:

Well when we were so close to catching them last time to be blown away to over 200+ pts behind i got kinda of bored, so in a effort to increase my interest in folding i went solo, of course i told Arkaine and NAS. Now i kinda regret it cause if i didnt we would be well passed them :( oh well that's life, and i kinda had fun going solo. My production with just two rigs was about 89 pts a week. grr those p180 are real prduction killers. Yup that;s right. my fourth rig is down (needs a CPU and mem) and the third rig hardly ever folded in my sis's room. grrr she kept turning it off. Well since she didnt use it much i put it back in my room and it's folding once more 24/7 for OC3d.

Bad news is Im about to move on the 20th, dont know how long i will be without DSL until i call SBC next week. Hopefully not long.

If you just want to see what AMD can do, I'm all AMD.

Approximately 9.5 GHz.

But 2 of them are tied up (cpu wise) for hours with a Blue's Clues game and Reader Rabbit, even when the kids aren't playing.

I've got 2 P3's from my old high school going, and I think I can get at least 3 more. I'm going to head out there in a few hours to chat with my science teacher and do some maintenance on her comps- dusting really. The 2 that are going now are on my personal username, and I only neeed to have one of them for contest purposes, so I'm hoping to gather 4 P3's for OC3d! Should be worth well the drive out in the country, even if they're only daytime folders.

Best of luck to you Kato, and thanks for all your help  Without you the dutches may take a lead again so when you come back we'll be in for another race. oh the excitement :D

The word is CoolLion is adding a KD7 Tbred dually, maybe 2. This race is far from over as we've barely managed to pull ahead. I missed the opportunity to add some P3's this week, but should be able to get a couple of celerons and at least 3 P3's by next weekend.

Ok guys, I'm back:D
Averaged around 30pts/day for the last 3 days, and my week total should be around 200pts/week. The dual KD7 Tbred dually is just too great of a threat:eek: and CoolLion might add 2 too...

Anyways, as of this sec, I'm 100% OC3d.:D

Thanks guys:beer:
Bad news is that one of my FT rig(xp@1533MHz) is going to my cousin. They need a computer and my dad forced me to give them one, damn it:mad: You can bet I will install F@H as a task, but they are still on dial-up, and the computer will only be on for a couple of hours per day....what a waste:eh?: And that TB900 from my friend is gone too...he said he had enough of folding...

So Arkaine, please take off 2433MHz from me. Once I got the KD7 and 2400+, my main rig from now will be FOLDING 24/7@1.92GHz:D

I have the boards the procs the mem etc. If only the bloody things would work.

BTW to solve my frustrations I just got 2 KT4 with 2200. Should have m up tommorow end of day. Can't have arkaine crying victory now can we :-)

Ok tomorrow will be my last day of folding for awhile. Im moving friday and my dsl wont activate at the new address for another two weeks :( So I'll be back in two weeks.

I am also waiting on some DSL. My main rig, my laptop, and 2 older celeron desktops are down until SBC flips the switch, which they were supposed to do no later than two days ago!. I should be getting those two celery's ready sometime later today. And if I wake up early enough, I'll head to my old highschool and see if I can get 3 or 4 P3's. My dad will be in town this weekend, so I should be able to install a modem and network card in his XP rig so he can actually plug the thing in and use it for something.

So these should be going by the end of the weekend, Monday at the latest:

XP 1785
XP 1522
P3's (3 or 4) - totaling around 3 Ghz
Celerons- 500, 550, 600

Edit: I got 4 P3 800's online today. I'm fixing another P3 933 as I type. 4 Ghz up today, another 3 Ghz up tomorrow when I configure the DSL. And another 3 Ghz by the end of the weekend. Next week OC3d's totals should start to rise again. And I think gtsimmo will get his farm going again soon.

Slowly iget the stuff online. Watch the proc count rise :-) over 50 again and rising.

Got the lead back to 100+

Wake Up your guys Arkaine.

P.S. To make matters worse I switched to adding Athlon Power as you might have guessed.

I should be back at full power + 3 Ghz tomorrow morning. I can add some more over the weekend. All is not lost guys! Gtsimmo should be back up in a few days as well.
