This is a continuation of my previous thread Cannot boot new mobo or cpu (forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=112475). But the situation has changed somewhat, hence the new thread.

I have a new VH6T mobo which I could not get to boot up with my new 1.3 Tually. So, I put my sig 1.1A in it and tried numerous times to see if I could get it to boot up. I thought that maybe the 1.3 was dead. After I shutdown the computer for the last time, I could smell a slight burnt smell, but I could not tell where it was coming from.

Anyway, I then did a "Hot Swap" of the BIOS chips and was able to flash the new VH6T's BIOS chip with the latest BIOS using my sig VH6T mobo. I put the BIOS chip back in the new mobo along with the 1.1A CPU. Currently, I can get the computer to boot into the BIOS, but when I set the FSB to 100 and the multiplier to 11, the computer will not boot at all after that (not even into the BIOS screens). I can then clear the CMOS and get back into the BIOS.

I tried booting the computer into DOS with a disk in the floppy drive. It will boot into DOS with the FSB set to 66, but nothing with the FSB set to 100. I then tried booting into W2K with the FSB set to 66, but it crashes with a blue screen and Windows Error message.

Do you think that the CPU is dead or otherwise damaged? I'm afraid to put the 1.3 CPU into this mobo, because I don't want to run the risk of damaging it. It is currently running fine in my sig VH6T mobo. Any ideas??

Sounds like you may have cooked a stick of ram if you can run at 66, but not 100 fsb. Hopefully somebody else can help you more. Have you tried another stick of ram to see if that makes a differerence?
