View Full Version : desktops!

in your opinion, when looking at a desktop case (yes i know they're kinda retro, but i sorta like that....), which one would you get? i've looked around for a long time and only found two cases worthy of attention:
the ATC-600 doubles the price of the lian-li, but it does look cooler... what would you get?
Between the two the CoolerMaster obviously looks cooler. The Lian-Li looks like an antique modem. But that's just between the two, if I was going to buy a case I would buy an ATX Case Full Tower. Lian Li PC70's are nice.

why are towers more popular than desktops?? Desktops seem like they would cool better, the cards wouldnt trap heat, and there would be no wrenching of the HSF away from the proc, and an exhaust right above the CPU would remove almost all the hot air off of it if the HSF sucked (airflow direction not quality).

i got a cool idea, cut a blow hole over the cpu and use a alpha PAL 8045 with the fan pulling air away from the HS directly out the blow hole by a duct if needed.
towers cool better than desktops because of design. cool air goes in the bottom front, and hot air out the top back. if your looking for a desktop to fit in your entertainment center than these two are winners...however they won't work well with any advanced cooling techniques.
i own a black desktop case that is custom fit for an entertainment center...of course it doesnt look so nice without its cover but if i use the cover it breaks 50c idle in there....screw that.
im looking to just build my own since ive never found a company that makes a case that fits nice in an entertainment center and is of "reasonable" size and cooling capability.

I prefer desktop cases.I use an enlight 7200 for my download computer, and i really like it....as long as its not a comp you need to take apart often.
I'd like to find a super small desktop case for an MP3 server for my home stereo.....any ideas?
I might just make my own...

Try some of the new FlexATX and MicroATX slim desktop cases. Casedepot.com has a few that are nice.
I think Gigabyte is also selling slim FlexATX barebones kits that are pretty cool.
