My weekly production will be down by a huge amount from now on until i get dsl back, i know i dont do much but ~85 points a week is the best i can do. F@H won't auto dial to send results and i can't be monitoring it 24/7 so my weekly production will suffer greatly. I'll try to fold as much as i can though.

Question: Can F@H be configured to auto dial in Linux? I'll do anything to keep my production up ;)

sorry to hear that bro:( but i am still digging around for any other info on XP and autodialing. i just set a comp up today to autodial in XP and it worked, but i know every comp can behave differently, so i won't give up till we get you an answer:)

good luck on getting DSL back and about autodialing in linux; couldn't tell you, but i am sure there has to be someone who knows whether if it is possible and how to do it if it is.

I'm sorry to say this... I'm gonna be leaving the Folding comunity for a while. Ever since i've been back on dial up, it's just been a hassle to keep monitoring my clients and sometimes they won't even connect even if i manually connect to the internet. So, as long as i'm gonna be on dial up, i'm gonna be running Seti@Home which is more convenient for me since i can cache WUs and i don't have to really keep an eye on it every couple of hours to see if one is ready to be sent. As soon as i'm gonna get some kind of broadband access, i'm gonna go back to F@H, i promise.

sorry to hear that snow:( have you considered running multiple clients so the time between sending is significantly longer??

i do hope you get broadband soon and can continue fighting for the cause:)

I'm sorry to hear it to. Without offending anyone, i just don't like S@H as much as F@H to tell you the truth. I would need as much clients so i'd be able to send/get results really late in the day and in the morning. Would running 2, maybe 3 clients be overkill? And would each client need its own folder? I'll really take a look into it right now.

overkill?? no, some people run as many as 4 clients on a rig. i would say try 2, then 3, then 4. see what works best for you and what still allows you to get work in by the deadlines.

Thanks NAS. I'm trying 2 clients on my machine right now. Let's see how this goes. I'm gonna install another one on the other computer too.
