View Full Version : which Geforce 4 ti4200??
Just wanted some opinions on which geforce 4 ti4200 card to get.... I've narrowed it down to three brands... Visiontek Xtasy, Gainward, and Asus. I'm leaning toward the Gainward because it's a little cheaper, and I've heard that it allows for not bad overclocking.
I'll be running w/ an XP 1600, Abit Kx7, and (1) 512MB PC3200 Corsair XMS memory....
Thanks! :)

Leadtek is also a very good brand for overclocking. I might be going with the Leadtek GF 4 ti4200.

Hmm - think the Leadtek is only a "mid-good" overclocker. Mine can only run @ 295 / 600 /w stock cooling, maybe only I have a not so good one....
But from what I´ve heard the Abit Siluro and the ASUS Ti 4200´s must be pretty good o/c´ers!

Here's a fairly recent review of several cards at viahardware (just in case you haven't seen it):

The Gainward Golden Samples tend to be pretty good overclockers (I'm still back in GF2 land myself, unfortunately, but at least with a very overclockable Gainward Ti500 (=ultra)).
Thanks for the link joshuab! I am thinking I'm going to get a gainward golden sample, although it comes with 4ns ram and nothing lower for the 128mb gf4's :(
I dunno though, I'm going to wait for more opinions before I go ahead and get it from newegg for $187

You could always get the version with fewer features for $20 or so less. But I agree with you regarding the RAM speed, especially in view of the faster RAM on the 64MB version.
