That's because the half-life engine's maximum frame is 99. No matter what card you have, that is your max.
Are you playing OGL or D3D mode?

didn't mention your mobo, but i'd guess it does'nt support 4xAGP.And thats why your 8500's losing out to Ti200's.

some of it may have to do with your Duron700 and Pc100,...try overclocking it and see if you get better fps...
Well slow Ram and a slow CPU doesn't help matters. The CPU still has to do quite alot of calculations for the games. Also you might have a slow harddrive. The card can't process what the harddrive can't dish out. =/

my mother board does take 4xagp, and i have a 7200 rpm hard drive.. do u think 512 megs of ram would help?

run 3dmark and see what score you get... I've had some weird problems with games also. This 2 yr old game (giants citizen kabuto) will get ... max 50 fps ... but any new game like Return To castle Wolfenstein... I'll get about 70 fps.
But just run that benchmark, and we can tell if its a problem with your hardware, or possibly the game.

I used to run my radeon 8500 on a duron 750 w/ 384mb of pc133 ram, and I would get pretty low fps on most games. For instance, I would usually hover around 50 fps in Counterstrike and drop to around 30-40 in heavy gunfire and where there was a lot of people. But after upgrading to my current setup I've notice a significant improvement when playing every game. I usually get 99fps constant in CS now unless we're in crazy gunfights and such. So it might be that the duron just isn't fast enough for the Radeon. Just what I've gotten from my experiences. Good luck on yours though. :)
check what anti alias is running at. That might be your problem, the higher it is, the less fps you'll get.

well... your cpu and ram are the slowest parts of your system, and that's probably what's causing your problem.

my anti aliasing is off... how much is a amd athlon 1700+ cpu? and what mother board should i get w/ dat??
check your agp aperture in your bios. i'll bet its set to 64mb (or lower) instead of 128.
mine was when i first got my machine. i never ran it at 64 cause i changed it on first boot.

i changed it to 128mb but it still gots the same problem.... do you think upgrading my system to a 1ghz duron would make any difference?
