I am going to get a new Motherboard and CPU, now my question:
What is the best motherboard out for say around a 2.2ghz and up? I am going to overclock this stuff so I am just wanting to know who has the best stuff, I can read reviews all day about this and that, but I belive ill learn a lot more here. I have this P.O.S. Soyo motherboard now and cant do thing with it. I can not water cool the cpu.
Wife said thats to much and death would come to me or the cpu. And she aint playing
Thanks

Processor type: Intel Pentium 4 processor
Pin package: mPGA-478
Front-side bus (FSB): 533 MHz
Clock Speed: 2.53 GHz
Level 2 (L2) Cache: 512 KB
Thinking of getting the processor
the 2.26b's are showing great numbers and good stability... however some have been dying for unknown reasons.
if you want 2.2+ i would certainly skip the a series and go right for the b series.
you could get a 1.8a and clock it to 2400-2500 super stable, but i think you'd be better off with a 2.26b

thats a pretty expensive chip... and in all reality the 2.26b is just as good.
the higher the multiplier the worse the o'c tends to be. thats why everyone gets 1.6a, 1.8a, and 2.26b chips. the others virtually fall off the map when it comes to overclocking.

i would suggest an rdram platform. the abit TH7II seems to be a sweet deal since its very cheap and still has all the good features.
you can pick one up for about 50 bucks refurbished from newegg.com or new for lower than most anywhere else.
if you want to go with ddr i suggest the board i use. BD7II also from abit. its very stable. i've had my 1.6a at 154mhz fsb and it was just about stable. my stock cooling is limiting me.
the only thing about abit is most of their boards seem to deliver slightly less voltage than bios specs. for example. stock for our chips is 1.5v. however when set to stock in bios i routinely get 1.42-1.46 with it usually sitting at 1.44v. course i would rather have it lower than higher since higher would really limit your overclock due to exceeding voltage tolerances too quickly.
