help me with my floppy drive

hello, i opened up my computer and took apart everything, now i put everything together and my floppy drive doesn't work. at the starting of the computer it says "floppy error (40)" and the floopy drive is connected and all that. but i don't know what's wrong w/ it. can someone please help me out. thanks

make sure the power/data wires are pushed in all the way...if u've tried all this i'd just suggest getting another one for $10...mine went out recently so i took one off a spare 386 i had lying around.

Also make sure your floppy cable didn't get twisted around the other way. That error is almost always due to the cable being put on backwards.
