just got my comp and had the plextor put in it for all the reviews and how everyone loves...its good but slow at times...like maximum pc says like 4 mins to burn 700 megs...but it takes me like 9-13 im using roxio 5...want nero but will that solve the prob and where can i get it for cheap..not 50 as they want on there web site...its a p4 2.2 if that matters...7200 ibm...so any help or mabye thats just how it is...??donno...

Most likely, your cd-r's are not optimized for the speed of your drive. Buy 32x cds

i have imation and there 32x so ...should i get memorex thats what i used on my dads comp..those were ok???? so i dont know...i found a place to get nero 5.5 for 19 bucks...so i might do that ...then see whats up ...thanks...any more post would be nice

First off...there's no reason for you to go out buying any more CD-R's. Imations should be fine...though they aren't the best. Also, your problem may be that Roxio sucks. Try Nero...get it for 19 bucks...if it doesn't solve your problem...at least you'll have a much better program. One thing though...how fast is the drive?

its the 24X10X40A...it got great review and everyone i know hates easy cd creator..ill go pick nero up tommm...thanks...how bout a dvd player??? powerdvd is the best i have seen in the theads...????? :D smile

What are you trying to burn? Music CDs and VCDs take longer to burn than data CDs. Did Maximum PC quote the data speed and you were trying to burn music CDs/VCDs?

And for the DVD player, I use WinDVD. It's a very good program, although I'm not too sure how much it costs (I got mine as part of a bundle with my video card). The best thing about it is you could use the "zoom" feature to get rid of the noise along the edges of old movies you might have on VCD.
