I tried out both boards for some time. I wasnīt sucessful with the Asus A7M266-D, but I guess while it is up and running there will be no difference compared to the MSI K7 Master.
Few conclusions:
1. If you like jumpers, go with the Asus board. There are zillons of them on this board. On the MSI there are exactly two.
2. If you wish to overclock seriosly, go with the MSI. Multiplier/FSB/Vcore settings, and all in software.
3. The Asus has better sound than the MSI, but the MSI has onboard LAN.
4. Both come bundled with a totally useless USB 2.0 pci card.
5. Be sure to check out that the cpu HSF you wish to use fits on the board(goes for both), there isnīt very much room.
6. Overall the ASUS has a more OEM feeling than the MSI.
7. Both boards take unbuffered RAM!
regards,
Henry
