I recently replaced my mobo and wen i removed my stock hsf i saw the ugly melted pink pad of death- this was promptly removed and heatsink clean well.
i then cleaned the surface of my core with a bit of rubbing alchohol
and then applyed the thin layer of as2.
BUT i didnt remove the melted pink **** from around the edges of my core (just too lazy at the time i guess- wanted to get my new pc set up)
On thinking about this and reading online ive decided that this was stupid (and i WILL be cleaning the cpu properly very soon) but could this excess goop be pushing up my temps at all seeing as its surrounding my chip and no doubt helping to keep unwanted heat in?
