My question is quite simple. where in the world do you find 1500 - hey I would settle for 800 grit sandpaper!!!!. I live in a city of 5 million , I went to 6 hardware stores and 600 was the best any one had.
I also went to 2 abrasive companies websites no luck.
If i spent three good hours sanding my heatsink( an alpha pal) incuding reusing sandpaper towards the end it gives a finer finish on wood - is that enough?
thanks in advance for any input

your best bet for extremely fine sandpaper is automotive body repair shops, autozone sometimes has 900-1200 range but 1500 and the like are only found at body shops for wet sanding cars...id check the parts store for 900 or so to finish off your heatsink and if your cpu needs lapping only use 1500 on it and be SUPER careful, personally id stay away from lapping the cpu unless it was really rounded or otherwise the wrong shape

Does anyone have a link to a web page that details lapping?
