(Well I think I know whats wrong but... not sure)
So just got brand new, Asus A7V333 mobo, xp 2200+, and 762 pc2700 ram...
So I put it all together without unlocking it to make sure the cpu wasnt DOA.. it wasnt. So I took it all apart, did the unlocking trick on the 5th L3. It looked like I had connected just those 2 dots(pins).
So now I boot up.. shows as a 733. I went into bios set it to 13.5x133... Boot into windows and run wcpuid and I get this:
Internal Clock : 733.12 MHz
System Bus : 266.59 MHz DDR
System Clock : 133.29 MHz
Multiplier : 5.5
What would cause that? Besides the fact I probably need to wipe the cpu off and start over...
Thanks

I believe the prob is that most mobos don't support anything higher than a 12.5 multi, and when you unlock it it goes back ton a 5.5 multi. This is helpful if you want to oc by lowering the multi and upping the fsb. If you don't want to lower the multi, leave the chip locked and just up the fsb.
Yes like portorock said you have successfully unlocked your CPU. When the mobo can't read the multiplier, it sets it to lowest value stored in the BIOS. You mobo obviously only has values up to 12.5 as portorock suggested. So, just go into the BIOS and set the multiplier to whatever value you want.
Hopefully you did want to set the multiplier lower, and hence the FSB higher. Because if you didn't want that result, there's no reason to unlock that XP 2200+. Mine would do 1985 MHz @ 147 MHz FSB stable on air. You can't get much higher than that. If you set the multiplier down to 12.5 for example, you could run the FSB @ 159 MHz and run at the same 1985 MHz but get a little better performance.

WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!!
The highest multi on a A7v333 is 12.5. That happened to me too when tried 13x or higher. Nothing to worry about. just lower the multi and you'll be fine.

DaveB,
Just a minor correction....5.5X doesn't happen because the bios is confused and goes to some lowest setting. System boots to 5.5X133Mhz because the workaround which closes the 5th L3 resets the 8X Bit Value from default HI to LO, disabling 8X. So the default 13.5X setting made by bridges is "hard modded" to 13.5X minus 8X = 5.5X.

I agree, my A7V333 didnt know anything higher than 12.5 even though its was available. Choosing 13x had it reset to soething like a 5x

raise your FSB, ive got mine locked at 151 FSB 13.5 multi. 2040 MHZ on air.
