i always read people saying they unlock their processors... what does it mean...? :confused: ...

unless you have a tbird processor, which comes factory unlocked, then if you want to overclock using the multiplier (raise fsb, lower muiltiplier) then you will have to unlock the cpu...on the xp chip, you have to connect the 4 sets of L1 bridges. but you also have to fill the laser cut holes between the bridges...after that, you can change the multiplier

1.4 tbird is factory unlocked =D but it runs flaaammeen hot too

Unlocking a CPU means to 'unlock' the changing of the CPU's multiplier.

You CPU speed is calculated by Multiplier x Front Side Bus, not going into detail but a higher FSB is faster, thusly if your CPU cannot overclock to well you unlock the CPU to have access to your fastest Multiplier / FSB combination.

As mentioned above 'some' CPU's come factory unlocked (meaning that they are unlocked already) but most are locked, to unlock them have a look at the AMD CPU's section of the Forums.
