This is upsetting me. I am getting basically the exact same temperatures with my new tornado. I was using the coolermaster HCC-001 w/ the 60mm fan it came with and getting 45-46. I'm running an XP 1800 @ 1533.... when i unlock/overclock/up the voltage... i know it'll get warmer. So i got an 60mm-80mm adapter + the 80mm tornado.

with the tornado on there..... i get 43-44. Might not even be the fan because i also bought some Arctic Silver 3 instead of the ceramic based crap i was using.

What do you think? Is it because of the adapter? Would the tornado perform better if i had it on a 80mm heat sink?

And its not airflow either... my ambient temp is 33C and i took off the side pannel and ducted a cardboard tube to the fan (w/ both the 60mm fan and the tornado) that drops the CPU temp down to 39-40.

I reallly hope the fan is worth it... its so loud, it better be able to do a better job of cooling than my old little fan.

well I'd say it's your heatsink holding you back most, the coolermaster heatsinks aren't the greatest out there, when I drop the vantec tornado onto my slk-800 I get load temps of 40c (asus mobo reads about 5-8c higher than most). However the slk-800 is a bit pricey, so a thermalright AX-7 would also give you very disireable performance with the vantec fan, but take this advice from a fellow tornado owner; The fan will damage your hearing if you subject your ears to prolonged ammounts of time with this fan!

Edit: you may notice your temps are already lower than mine but keep in mind the asus a7v333 mobo gives temp readings about 5-8c higher than most mobo's

the heat pipe heatsink is not good at all, i hade 1 and ditched it for a ax-7 with a tornado 80mm fan and i love it, got my pc sitting right buy my window, and in the night time amd xp 1800+@1757 hmz 1.92 core 38C full load for hours

I tested her last night and found 47C at full load w/ case temp of 34C....

what kind of case temps do you guys have?

is that with the hcc-001? and tornado??? the hcc-001 is a small heatsink and verylittle room for air to fit threw the fins, i got mine sitting here on my desk its all green color cuzz i havent used it in a long time lol

here are my temps using a slk-800w/vantec tornado

idle 36c load 40c

keep in mind asus a7v333 reports temps 5-8c higher than most mobo's so if I ran it on your mobo you'd probably see 29c idle and around 32c under load, this shows that the Thermalright SLK-800 when paired with the 80mm vantec tornado can provide water cooling temps, the only trade off is the insane ammount of noise that the tornado puts out.
