Hey all,
This is my first time here and my first time "hopefully succesfully" overclocking.
I have an Intel P4 1.6 Ghz Proc. Not sure of more specifics on it such as week made , but I think it is a Malayasian made.

Using stock heatsink and fan, the case is a LianLi and has really good airflow as I took time to get anal about my wiring job.

I have it on a Soyo P4SX motherboard with 512megs of 333Mhz DDR. The vid card is an xtasy g4 4600 if that matters. The harddrive is a Seagate 7200 80 gig also if that matters.

I think I have it OC'd to 1.95 now. At least that is what the BIOS reports back and WinXP shows me in info.

My BIOS settings are as follows:

CPU:DRAM Clock Ratio 1:1
CPU Clock 122
Auto Detect DIMM/PCI Clock Enabled
Spread Spectrum Enabled
CPU Vcore Select Default
DDR (2.5v) Volatage Select Default
AGP (1.5V) Voltage Select Default

I had it up to 2Ghz at one time, but when I took it up there I also changed the CPU Vcore Select to 1.75 as that is what someone had it set to in the cpu database. It booted fine the first time, I ran 3DMark 2001 twice and played some Q3 for about a half hour with no problems. But when I rebooted the screen just went black, I hit reset button and it came up again. So i went back into BIOS an changed the vcore back to DEFAULT and the clock to 122.

Ok I guess I should ask a question now. Basically I just need some of your guys/gals expert opinon. Do my settings look OK? What things should I look for? You think I can go higher with my OC with better cooling?(Im looking at water later down the line)
If I can go higher, which settings do I mess with and which ones do I leave alone?

Also, I want to apologize for such a lengthy post and so many questions. But if I can get a little bit of guidance here in the begining. I think I can pick up the rest by reading forum and making shorter posts.
Thank You
-Mike

Your settings look fine, I'm guessing you have a P4 Williamette and not a Northwood which means you've got a pretty good overclock going for it. You can try and push higher, just keep and eye on your temps. Also, instead of watercooling, I'd invest in a Northwood chip down the road first, they overclock better and run cooler then the Williamettes

You can use this to see what type of P4 you have:

http://my.vector.co.jp/servlet/System.FileDownload/download/ftp/0/38172/pack/win95/hardware/cpu/wcpu30g.exe

Or look on www.h-oda.com ; choose downloads; -> FTP Download . wcpu30g.exe . (From Vector )

If the program shows 512kb L2 cache and 0.13micron, it is a Northwood.

0.18micron and 256kb means a Willamette core.

hi,

I'll bet you could hit 133fsb with default voltage.

maybe 150fsb with 1.65 volts.

good luck
