The PSU puts off so much heat... I'm thining about mounting it to the top of my tower. Drilling holes for the intake fan and all the cords... and maybe a piece of foam between it and the case so the heat doesn't transfer...
anyone ever tried this before?

Ive got dual psu's and one has to be outside the case. Its great. If you cant stand the ugly grayness of the psu, just paint it, thats what i did. You might need to get some extensions for ur cables though.

I haven't tried this before, but I guess it's similar to the "leaving your case open" method. It's very good for cooling, but it's ugly and you'll end up with a lot of dust.

I won't have any dust. Id put a piece of card board or something over the hole where the psu was... probably throw an extra fan there as well. And just leaving your case open doesn't help that much for cooling... i get maybe 1-2C doing that

well, if you can stand the naked psu out in the open, go for it. Leaving the case open doesnt work for me. I see an increase in temps when i do that.
