could someone please help me with mbm5, my motherboards manual doesnt tell me the sensors names so i cant figure out if the temps are right, i just kinda guessed.... I am using a soyo sy-p4is2. If anyone knows the names of each sensor i would highly appreciate it! thanks

you might have to do the old trial and error method.

pick one sensor and have a look at the temp.
does it seem like a cpu temp?
run the computer at full load. (there is a programme that comes with mbm called heat up. that will run your cpu harder) does the temp rise?
if it doesn't, then it is either a case temp temp, or a ghost temp.

keep going until you're pretty sure you have them right.

that's how i had to set mine up. mbm found 6-7 possible sensors for my mobo. and only two of them are actual sensors, the rest just give off rediculous readings. like -30C etc.

Heh yeah I have my fan monitoring Enermax PSU lead on my CPU 1 fan header lol. It reads the RPM quite nicely, but the 127C temperature reading is rather awkward. =D

i think i have it right now but i wanted to be sure. At the moment it reads ...

CPU:36C
CASE:32C
SENSOR3:63C

not sure what sensor 3 is, but does that sound reasonable for a p4 1.6 ghz not being OC'ed, with 1 80mm intake fan and stock hsf on the cpu?

36C sounds about right to me, for a cpu temp.

that sensor 3 is probably just a ghost reading.
unless you have put the hsf on the cpu wrong and that really is the temp.
or you're running too many volts through it. lol

when you run it at full load, does the cpu temp rise?

im not sure of a good way to run a fulll load, but i overclocked the cpu a little and the temp raised to 38-39. Sounds right to me?

sounds good to me.

have a look in the motherboard monitor folder, where ever you installed it. (most likely program files) and there should be a sub folder called heat up. that programme will run your cpu at full load.

not necessarilly the best method, but it will do the job well enough.
you could also try playing a 3d game for an hour or so and check the high low log in mbm to see how hot the temps got.

ok cool, thanks a bunch for the help!
