ok, today i just got some rounded cables and i hooked em up and then i get this happy message "Windows protection error please restart your computer". you know the one. anyways im like god damnit... my cable must be defective... but no, i tried the other rounded cable i got, didnt work, i tried my old ribbon IDE, didnt work. same error. safe mode just makes it lock up, safe mode with networking makes it reboot. i tried the harddrive in my brothers computer, worked fine. i tried my crap old 8 gig harddrive, same error in my computer. OK so im thinking i must have put too much pressure on this ****ty motherboard when i plugged in the IDE and it somehow ****ed the IDE ports or i dont know, whats the problem here guys, anyone have any ideas? god damnit if i have to send one more part back to canada for RMA im gonna go on a murdering spree. GRRRR damn you toms hardware for tricking me into buying this board when i was naieve!!!

Since you say the HD worked in another computer, that's not the problem. Windows protection errors can be caused by the mobo not working properly, they can also be caused by bad RAM, among other things like driver conflicts.

oh hrm thought the thread was deleted... it was just an overreaction on my part... i am just very wary of this board cause it has many goofy problems.... hrrm it was just that i must have very slightly tapped one of my ram sticks cause i firmly pushed them both back and and then everything worked. thanks for the tip though. :)
