View Full Version : Shim
Hey all this might seem pretty stupid but I have a cpu shim on my cpu. Is it really good. Cause I notice on my brothers he doesnt have one and his temps are much cooler. Should I remove it??

On my system, since my waterblock was so uneven on the core, adding one dropped my temps a staggering 10C or so.
For a heatsink it isn't necessary for a shim really. The clips are only suppose to add a certain amount of pressure to the clips so they don't break. Assuming you have an AMD System - Make sure those pads are still on. A shim isn't really necessary, the secret of not wrecking anything is staying calm and taking your time.
