Ok, I have joined this to get help and information on overclocking my new ATI Radeon 7000 64MB PCI slot graphix card. It was a good deal, so don't ask about it being PCI, aight? :D Anyway, I can give you, the details on what i am doing for the fan and cooling, as well as the details on the rest of my system, so then any and everyone can help me determine tools, precautions and every single detail of information i need to know and do in the process of overclocking my Radeon 7000. I thank you for your time and help now. So, let's begin! :P
Fan/Cooling Info:
I am putting a ThermalTake Crystal Orb on my main chip (on the Radeon 7000) that will be stuck on using a 50/50 mix of the Arctic Silver Epoxy and the Arctic Silver Thermal Paste 3. Since the clips on the Crystal Orb do not work on the Radeon 7000, I am hoping that the Epoxy mix should keep the fan attached to the chip well enough, so it hanging upside-down in my PCI port it will stay on forever.
Next I am putting tiny (can't describe exactly, its the ones from FrozenCPU.com) RAM heatsinks on each of the four RAM chips on the card. I am using the same 50/50 mix of the Arctic Silver Epoxy that I made for the above paste on the RAM sinks attachments.
That is my fan and cooling set up for my ATI Radeon 7000.
Computer System Info:
Pentium II 445 Mhz processor
256MB RAM, PC-100 bus
Sound Blaster Audigy MP3+ card
ATI Radeon 7000 64MB DDR PCI slot card
A pci port fan - exaust
Ordering a 80mm 32.5 CFM fan to fit in slot on back, probably exhaust (from like the graphix card's fan)
What I Want/Request:
I was wondering if everyone here could help me figure out if the cooling will be good, I am sure it will be suffienct... Then I also want to know every single thing about overclocking this graphix card. I need to know, what is its normal running stats. I need programs on how to measure its new overclocked stats, I need the programs to overclock, and how to use them (like besides the ATI driver) and all the info I need....
Sorry i am a newbie... :( :eh?: :( :( I hope you can help me, and then I will be MUCH more educated on overclocking. I appreciate your time and your assistance with me and my Radeon 7000 and overclocking it.

I also own the radeon ve. The only exception is mine is agp. But overclocking should be basically the same. I use Rage 3d tweak (http://rage3d.com/r3dtweak/) and it works great. You could try powerstrip also but I find rage 3d works the best. My card default clock is 155 core and 155 mem. I can get an overclock without artifacts of 182.3 core 182.3 mem. When over clocking I went with 5mhz increases. After each overclock I ran 3dmark for a couple of loops to check for artifacts. If you see any texture tearing or hot spots(think of a snowy tv picture) than back the card off as this means that either the core of the mem has gotten to hot. It takes a while to get the card dialed in just right but its better to be slow and safe than hurry and have to buy a new card:D

first off.....WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!
secomd off the cooling you mentiond will more than sufice a radeon 7000. I have a radeon VE (worst card ever) and a blue orb with Silicon Compound no ramsinks and i can get it to 168/245. I could get that same result twith the stock pasive heatsink bt i wanted to be extra safe.
as fot tools you will need Rage3d tweak, or Powerstrip, or any of the other overclocking utilititys for radeons, i use rage3d myself(try them all, you will find the one that suits you he best). You will also need 3dmark 2001 SE with the patch. The newest radeon drivers couldnt hurt either. ;)
The way i see it right now your processor is the bottleneck on your system. i would say overclock it as much as you can, then you will have a decent gamig rig for yourself. what kind of MoBo do you have? Did you put AS3 on your processor? if you are interested in OCing that pII let me know, i have don many great overclocks with old pII's and celerons, in my opinions its an awful lot of fun, and there inst as much to wory about as with newer chips, it much harder the break a pII :D
Good luck and see you on the forums!

Hmm.. Can you help me as well?:D I'm having smg like a multimedia pc with the radeon ve(tv out) and a celeron 500 on an acorp mobo (intel lx chipset i think) and i wanted to o/c it a bit but I am not sure what to do:rolleyes: so can you give advice, link, or smg. 10x nikoror
First go and DL the latest Catalyst driversHERE (http://mirror.ati.com/support/drivers/powered.html)
then go HERE (http://rage3d.com) and get the latest version of Rage3d Tweak
if you have any old Heatsinks and fans lying aroudn it might be a good idea to put them on that radeon just in case, i have a blue orb screwed onto mine.
the stock HS uses double sided tape to hold the heatsink on, its a horrible ehat conductor, so i would suggest getting rid of it... some AS3 would be fine, im using silicon compound from radio shack till my AS3 come in. The heatsink just pulled right off with some force, you shouldnt need to macho-man it to get it off, just twist it around and after a while it will just pop off. but make sure you put anotehr HS on it, it will quickly overheat and probly burn out after a few minuets.
try for starters getting it up to 166/166, and run 3d mark a few times, it wont runn fast, but if there are no artifacts and it doesnt crash your good, then take it up some more, until you get artifacts or you get crashed. i get mind up to 168 mem b4 i get artifacts.
Also do you have any as3? it would be a good idea to put some as3 on the bottom or the celeron HS. Check the Hs to see if it needs lapping, if you dont know what lapping is go to the cooling forum and look at the top for the stick guide to cooling. There will be several sets of jumpers on your board to switch to cahnge the FSB and multiplyer, i dont knwo exactly were right now, but if you give me a while i will find out exactly were :-)

I have truly known forever that it has been a processor problem now limiting my abilities. Unfortunately, we are fresh out of cash for buying a new processor or mobo, so I am going to o/c my processor the best I can and live with what i have and upgrade fans and heatsinks and what not. Anyway... Details and need some help about the P2 for o/c that.
Apparently my mother board is:
Jabil Pentium II BX Motherboard w/ Hardware Management
Part number 4000407
And the processor specifically is:
a Pentium II 450Mhz
Oooh wait, gotta add
RAM Capacity: 384 megabytes (MB) synchronous DRAM (SDRAM), Error Checking and Correction (ECC) or non-ECC
Processor Host Bus Speed: 66 or 100 megahetz (MHz)
PCI Bus Speed: 33 MHz
PCI Chipset: MP440BX
ISA Bus Speed: 8.33 MHz
Hopefully the information ony that motherboard should be enough for you to help me determine everything about o/cing it and its limits and all. Its a Gateway, we bought it roughly late 1998 I believe. And there has been a lot of hardware upgrades, but mobo, processor, (and processors heatsink) at all the same.
Ok, one question, is since I am replacing the heatsink into a fan on my graphix card, why not change it to something much much better for my processor...?? :D The heatsink on it now is friggin massive, its like 2 inches sticking out towards the front, and the entire dimension of the processor holder. I dunno anything about this processor, and it seems quite baffling. Do you have any suggestions on how I should remove this heatsink and then also, what other heatsink's or fan's should I replace and put on there that will provide a much more reliable advantage to the cooling of my processor, especially since we are gonna o/c it.
Then, what is all the details for o/cing it, that you can tell me as a setup kind of thing now. Don't give me instructios yet, just basically getting it ready. It will be within a few weeks until I get the money and then order all of the fans, one for the graphix, one for the processor, one for the 80mm slots, etc. Then I gotta do the mod on the graphix and the processor, and then I need an entire free day to first o/c the processor, (you know first time o/cs  ) and then o/c the graphix after the processor. So not only will it take time to get all the parts and to mod it correctly, but then it will take time to prepare and actually do the o/cs...
So thats why if ya can help me out as much as possible with the setting up of my o/c, cooling and every detail about these for mainly the P2 and then also the graphix. I know enough about the graphix, so I think I got that down, but now about the P2!! :D Anyway, thanks again for your help!!
(PS - One last question, do you think I need to look into cooling for the 2 RAM (each 128MB) cards in my comp, if I am going to be some o/c of the processor, or is just general cooling of the processor, that I mentioned above, enough...?)

If you are going to add a couple of fans and replace the hsf than it could be just as cheap to upgrade the mobo and processor. Celerons and the lower clocked athlons are incrediably cheap at the moment. An older athlon and a good sdr board should set you back about 130 bucks. You could easily spend this on a good cooling set up. If you got the sdr board than you could use your current mem and save yourself that expense. Of course if you decide to overclock that would make all of us here happy too! :)

Probably in usa, but not here(see loc). e.g. a radeon 8500 costs 200$:( and a new mobo+athlon would be smg. like 180$ and this is too much. i don't want some x3m cooling. i just want to now how to clock my cpu (i cannot do it through BIOS)
