Modifying That Delta Fan

There was a post on either putting in a rheostat or a 7/12 volt switch for the Delta fan but I can't find it. Does anyone have the instructions on what to do? I would like to use the 4 pin power but retain monitoring by running a wire (or two?) to the MB connector.

The resostat or resistor is placed in line with the 12 V lead. I have only done this with a 4 pin connector though, not sure whther motnitoring will work without ground.
