fop32,pal,or pep

It's me again, my p3700 has
booted in at 933 with an orb,
but will get the blue screen of death after a few minutes.
currently running 868 at 1.73.
So which one heatsink should I get.
I have a abit bx6.2 mb. with slokett.
No fop83 or delta fans please.
Wife will be upset if the computer get's any louder.

IMHO the best heatsink is the PAL - but you will need a good fan. Possibly you could use a variable resistor to throttle it when you are not using it
heavily.

All of those are loud. Perhaps try a Taisol (they will fit FCPGA)

Since you want quiet, best bet would be a FOP32 with a YS-Tech 80mm 47CFM fan on top. This fan is much quieter(think it's 9dBA quieter) than a Delta 60mm 38CFM fan, and yet moves more air. The extra air-flow should compensate for the FOP having less surface area than the Alpha heatsinks, might even give you and edge on them.

I agree the Alpha Heatsinks are superior only if used in conjunction with a delta fan. The fop 38 is probably the best HSF for the Money($20) The fop 32-1 is quieter and is around($17) If money or noise is not an issue get a Alpha with a delta fan.

The PEP-66 was originally designed to hang on a Slocket. This outperforms the PAL-6035, which makes two Dimm slots unusable when used on a Slocket, at least with a P3B-F 440BX mainboard. The PEP-66 only makes one Dimm slot unusable(on the P3B-F) and has a lot more fin surface area than the PAL-6035 does.

The PEP-66 comes with four stick-on feet that must be used on PIIIE's and CII's. Install them on the four spots that are already marked on the copper bottom of the HS.
Don't buy the PEP-66T. It comes with a tiny fan that facilitates installing it on Socket A mainboards. I've dealt with http://www.millisec.com , http://www.2cooltek.com , and http://www.3dfxcool.com . All three have been fine, however Millisec.com is my fave. The YSTech "27" cfm should be adequate. If you want max cooling power with a much quieter fan than the Delta beast, have a look at the http://www.overclockers.com Front Page from two days ago. Looks like a FOP-32/38 will let you use an 80mm case fan instead, without much trouble!
