I just got a new sony 32x 10x 40x cd-r/rw from my local frys electronics, and i installed it right (i think) but its not working, it let me burn 1 cd but the cd doesnt work. I made it a slave cause i guess my cd-rom is my slave, is that correct? I used the same ribbon cable as the master to connect the slave, is that ok? Any help would be appreciated thanks! Oh yeah, some burning programs dont even acknowledge the burner being there :(

you should make it a master if your cdrom is a slave(big eror but one easy to make dont feel bad)
if you have 2 cd-drives you should have the burner as master on the 1st plug and cdrom as slave on the second

which is the first plug? so i should have the burner as master, and have it be under the cd-rom so the cd rom should use the 2nd plug? or do i have it backwards which plug is which lol. Sorry but i gotta make everything difficult :D
if you were able to burn a cd before that means that your system saw the drive, and that it was installed correctly. Chances are it is a software problem or something else non hardware related. Unless the drive itself is bad.
If you go into your bios, it should show what drives it is detecting and where they are conected. Use this info to see if everything is conected right.

it looks good, if you cdrom came w/ the comp it should already be set at master and if you sent the burner as slave when you installed it then everything is installed right, you could maybe just check the plugs and make sure there are no loose wires, otherwise i'd say its software

I dont have an Analog Audio Connector. Would that affect it? It could also cause the problem ive been having with playing cds. I have to copy the songs to my realONE library for me to hear the sound. Also, does anyone know if xbox plays burnt music cd's? I tried but got a dirty disk error. It could be that i messed up burning it or that xbox just doesnt play burnt cd's .
