Heh I bought a 90 dollar demel today off my boss for 30 bucks. I'm hopin to make a unique style window on the side of my case soon. Question is... which bit is the best. That guide is old and there are hundreds of diffrent bits now. Other question.. what could I practice on that would be similar to my case ?

use the fiberglass reenforced cutting wheels for all cutting

either the smaller wheel and then a diamond grinder to smooth it down

find an old case or any sheet steel thats about <2mm thick

currently practicing cutting holes on an P100 leaving all the cards and old crap inside and letting the metal shavings fall where they may :)

The guide isnt old .. well ok .. so it has been a long time since I wrote it. That doesnt change the fact that 95% of the bits out there now have been out for many many years :)

However, I have learned a bit over the last year and a half, unfortunatly I will not be updating my site with the new series of guides I am writing for InovaPC. That doesnt mean you will have to buy the magazine to read the guides. They will all be posted on the site after they have been published. If you havent heard of InovaPC, they you might want to check it out here. (http://www.inovapc.com) We are currently offering a Free trial issue, but you can read about that on the site.

Anyways.. There is no "best bit" alot depends on what you are attempting to do. For detailed work, a combination of wheels (standard and fiberglass) along with Tungsten carbide bits, Sanding disks, and aluminum oxide stones work best. For cutting plexi, I would get a small saw blade with fine teeth. Saw blades can be hard to find, but they work extremely well on plexi. You can also get some saw blades that will cut hard materials, these would be great for long straight cuts, however i have yet to try one for that since fiblerglass wheels work well.

Basicly, you need to give us a better idea about what you want to do before we can really offer any suggestions.
