I read somewhere on here that in order to get a good unlock on a green XP, you need to sand the L1 bridges, since they're coated wtih something.
Is this really neccesary? And if it is, how thick is the coating, what grit sandpaper will be sufficient?
I've got my defogger kit and I'm ready to try an unlock, but I don't want to have to do it 3 times.

I think there is some kind of coating but I have found that sanding them is uneccesary. I have unlocked 3 or 4 green XPs and have never had to do that. But its a good idea to scratch the bridges across before you work on them(although not neccesary).

Use 1500 - 2000 grit sandpaper. Yes there is fine coating over it that prevented me from doing it until I sanded it. Do it lightly until you see a slight color change. Worked for me.

I think I'll go for the 2000 grit sandpaper, I'm going to try the unlock tomorrow evening, I'll post results tomorrow night hopefully!
Thanks for the help everyone
