ok, I already have 2 xp 1600's that I plan on attempting to close the l5 bridges on.
I'm planning the rest of this out for when I get paid. So far it looks like I'm going with
case (http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage.asp?image=11-125-604-01.jpg/11-125-604-02.jpg/11-125-604-06.jpg/11-125-604-07.jpg/11-125-604-05.jpg/11-125-604-04.jpg/11-125-604-08.jpg/11-125-604-09.jpg/11-125-604-03.jpg) going to try to get away with using that power supply for now
MSI K7D-L
512mb crucial ecc 2100(later plan on going to at least a GB)
gainward gf3 ti200
I'm considering either a RAID 1 or 5 setup, not sure on size of drives yet, but any ideas on controllers would be greatly appreciated.
not sure on what cd drives to go with yet, probably just get a decent burner for now.
I have some extra SVC GC68's (really GC118, but SVC has them named wrong on their site) (http://www.svcompucycle.com/newsvcgc3280.html) but i doubt they will fit the motherboard, so any ideas on coolers that will fit, preferably staying clear of the glaciator II, too much weight for my comfort. I doubt I will be doing much overclocking if any on this machine.
any other ideas/suggestions would be great:D

LoL man SVC?!? That is a relabeled product. Check out this site: http://www.titan-cd.com/titan.htm . IŽd say what you got is the exact same thing as the Titan D5-T.
Now they donŽt fit as they is on the MSI, there is one heatsink in the way. All you have to do is file on one of them about 1-2 mm or so. This is donne pretty fast since they are made out of aluminium.
I like that cooler, it has OK performance and is very quiet.
RAID: Raid 0,1 or 0+1 controllers are pretty cheap. The best performance and security is however much more expensive and much more advanced. Raid 3 or 5 is the best if you want performance.
Now check this site out: http://www.hypermicro.com I think they are incredibly cheap, and they got it all too.
The best choice would propably be the Promise SX 6000 controller. It has 6 onboard ide channels. You need to buy a stick of SDRAM though: 32-128Mb.
Or maybe a 3ware 7500-series? They are 64-bit PCI and 2,4,8 or 12 ide channels.

i myself will be going with the 3ware escalade 8 port.
thermalright sk6's work great if you have the money buy slk800's.

good idea, i already have one (delta 60mm 50cfm screamer on it  )
might buy another one and get some quieter fans for them, if I can't get the other ones to work.
SVC coppers work great on them, especially if you can get a fan adapter and some high RPM 80mm fans...it's what I've got on both of mine (Volcano 7s on one and CBD38s with 80mm 5K RPM fans and Akasa fan adapters on the other).
The SLK series by ThermalRight are about the best I've ever used though.

I put the SVC GC68's on my buddy's K7D Master/1.2 MP's and I had to remove one of the corner fins - it was interfering with one of the heatsinks on the VRM's. Unfortunately this meant only being able to mount the fan on three corners of the heatsink but that has not proven to be an issue, yet, I guess. We put thermally controlled fans from SVC on them and I tried to sandwich the monitoring probe down in between the clip and the heatsink as best I could so that it would be on the hottest part of the CPU and be shielded from direct airflow from the fan.
From what he tells me his CPU's are staying plenty cool running stock 1.2 GHz/1.75v. At $6/pop plus fans, they're hard to beat.
BUT they are definitely not an overclockers heatsink.
As far as those SK6's go, I have one in my duallie paired up with a GlaciatorII. Originally it had the 40 CFM YS Tech on it and I just couldn't take it anymore after a while - with like 17 fans in my Antec case the noise volume was just too much with the added high pitched whine of the YS Tech 40. I swapped it out for a 33 CFM YS tech.
SLK800's are definitely on my "to-buy" list for my duallie, though. I'll probably get the SVC Variable speed fans which max at like 53 CFM and have the potentiometer built in.
