video/sound section? i hope my question is close enough.
im going to try to make it as short as possible.
i bought an HDTV DSS Reciever. It has a FireWire out. I captured something off the reciever onto my hard drive. it outputs 650MB chopped files with a .TRP extension and a 1920 x 1088 resolution with 9GB (yes, 9 gigs) per hour. insane huh?
The computer cant read the .TRP file with any movie playing program. I found a magical way to demultiplex that file and now I have 2 files. An MPEG2 video stream, and a multi-channel ac3 audio stream. I know how to convert all the ac3 stuff and multiplex it later, but my problem is the MPEG2 video stream. it isnt like a normal MPEG2 stream, there are almost no programs that recognize the filetype but i can play it (choppy) in windows media player. i loaded the weird mpeg2 stream into DVD2AVI and created a VFAPI out of it. so now i have an AVI file (that needs to be converted).
i want to convert it into divx, so i opened VirtualDub. It actually converts some of the movie (at .5 FPS) and then it crashes. BTW: the converting is being done on a 2.5GHz P4 with 533MHz BUS, so its not the computer.
does anyone know of a program that can convert my VFAPI avi file into DivX.
thanks for any replies (i dont think im going to get any)...
