I have a 1 gig athlon on a epox 8kta3+ mobo it runs at 43c under normal use and a couple of degrees higher under a little more use.
I have only a standard cpu hsf + a case fan exhausting warm air from the case.

My question is this.
Are these temps normal?
If these are high what would be the best hsf combo to use to bring the temps down?

I ask these questions because there seems to be a lot of difference in opinion out there.

thanks for taking the time.

Yes. Perhaps you might expand on your HSF a bit. "Standard" is vague.

I assume the thermister is located within the scocket directly under the cpu.
The hsf was what was supplied by the shop when I bought the cpu. It doesn't look very impressive though.

thanks

Brendan

I'm just goofing around with you ;D

40 to 60C would be the normal operating temp for your chip any thing out side of that would be a reason to be concerned
