Of the entire time that I have been surfing and looking through OC.com, hardware reviews have been few and far between. Except maybe for just HSF's. Whats the deal with that? Is no one giving us hardware to review? No one with enough time to run benchies and progs? I just wanna know why we lack some hardware reviews.

can't remember who said it... but it went something like this: Companies don't send us hardware cause we would actually test it. We wouldn't lie about/omit the drawbacks or the advantages of certain products.

So basically, if we find things that we dont like, we'll be straightup with what we find and wont try to sugar coat it? Is that why they dont give us hardware? Why not ask for some hardware from resellers and not from the corporations and whatnot? Or even better, have those who buy new hardware donate theirs for a week for a good thorough testing. I wouldnt mind lending it to OC.com for them to review.

OC.com will downright bash a product. Several companies totally pulled from giving the site anything. I am not too sure. I think one issue is time. I have heard Joe's desk is like three layers deep in heatsinks, waterblocks, and other junk to test out. Occasionally you see some hardware stuff but I think thats what Joe, Ed, and Skip have bought for themselves, although I know sometimes they do buy stuff to test out but that gets pricey.

The best thing would be for users to start writing some hardware reviews for the site.

We don't ask for hardware. We usually buy what we review.

If someone sends something, we'll review it.

Look for some case reviews soon :)

I guess its better to actually get review samples from actual resellers rather than from the corps. since they most likely send "Golden Samples" to be tested to catch the eye of the public. How would you guys feel about starting a fund that gets donations for the purchase of hardware items and those who donate can vote on what they would like you to review.

You would have to talk to Joe about that.

We don't get from the Resellers because we don't beg for it. This has been an un-written policy for Joe and I since the site started.

We have NEVER sent an email asking for review samples.

i'd rather spend the money on the servers/bandwidth but its a good idea.

Another idea is, if you buy something new write a review about it and send it to Skip, Joe, Ed or one of the staff.

That way you are sharing the imformation you have found with others and helping the busy staff who run the forums/front page. You are giving something back to OC.com.

hmm if some of the member were willing to lend some hardware or perhaps even do some reviews themselves then we could get a good review flow going. i would like to have the down and dirty truth rather than some moron like tom sugar coating every piece of crap that comes out of companies that pretty much bribe them. iam not saying there arnt honest review sites out there, but i like ed's style :)

only problem is we general members have no credibility outside of our forum. sure we could have a forum for User Reviews, but i doubt anyone who respects ed/joe's reviews would really take our personal reviews 100% seriously.

I want someone with a great knowledge of the stuff to review it. The only reason that I dont really want some general members (No offense to anyone out there) doing it is that they do not really have credibility like maxvla said. For all we know, its some Joe Sixpack thats got lots of money to spend on new things that he doesnt have a full understanding for. My $0.02.
