AGOIA XP 1600+

Im tryring to unlock the above bad boy and can only get the multipliers below the stock 10.5 to work. I have tried a few times and recieved the same resuslt every time. Is there something that I may be missing. Every multiper below stock works perfectly every time. Nothing above 10.5 will work. I need eleven.

Hate to say this but you need to redo the unlock. sonmething's not right. What materials did you use to unlock it?

I'll watch this thread cuzz i have a xp1600 in the mail. I might need a higher Multiplyer too.

Fishy, thats a very nice OC on that xp1600 @ 1.95ghz. But i wouldnt call it a P4 killer. Unless u are referring to a 1.5ghz wallamette core. hehe but very nice. what did u use to cool it?

Yeah well its a P4 killer. Lets see some benchs of yours.

Water cooled to 45c load with 2.2v

Highspeed Unlock kit. What bridge(s) would have to be screwed up for that to happen. I have heard of it happening. I looked really closley and none of the bridges were even remotley close to touching.

OK tough guy... AZN's Benchies (http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=112795)

Im not here to start a AMD INTEL war. but thats what i got with my oced 2.26 how does your compare? may I see??? thx.

Maybe we started out on the wrong foot. lets start over shall we..

Hi, my name is AZN (aka NO1) im new to the AMD threads cuzz i spend most my time in intel. But now that i'll be getting a xp1600 shortly i like to get to know the AMD guyz. I hope u guyz are as freindly as the intel guyz. I've been treated with nothing but respect and even made a few friends there. I hope i can do the same here.

your chip is less but your cooling is better. how much time or money did u invest in cooling? the MHZ isnt rated the same when it comes to XP and P4. We all know that amd has quad speed so it like 66mhz equals 100 of intel. That y its called a xp1600 not a 1.4ghz chip

1.95ghz XP is a little better then a XP 2400 so i had like a 400mhz advantage.

BTW dont i get a hand shake? or are u going to shrug me off?

I guess you can have a handshake. Oh and welcome to the dark side. Good luck with your chip. Let me know of anythting that I can help you with.

I have $60 invested into my water cooling. Yes it is a little more time consuming but well worth it for any extreme overclocking.

thx you, fishy...

I would love water cooling, but my opinion i think it takes up to much space.

What would u recommend. The unlocking kit that can be found in PC stores or just going to pepboys and putting a kit together myself? Is the kits sold in PC stores really worth it?

I new to unlocking so ill need all the advice i can get. only thing ive done is the pencil trick on the durons.

Im sick of everyone saying that the kit from highspeed PC is so great. Its a rip off. It sucks. I was totally dissapointed. They show these nice bottles that look as if they are filled but all they have is a squirt in the bottom. The gap filler is nothing other than white thermal grease, and the cleaning agent is alochol. Get the deffoger paint. Save the time and the $$

hm i dunno bout u but i think itd be easy to do if u have a nice unused closet/tiny room... just store all the junk in the room and run the tubing(SP?) to what u need to cool.. but of course not to far away from the pump 'n stuff or you wont get its cooling effect :D

i mite do watercooling sometime if i ever have the guts.. and i know exactly how im going to do it

your Sisoftware sandra score seems low to me {PMS}fishy as far as the unlock your better off just cleaning the chip really good and tring again.

BTW

AZN r u still folding as NO1?

yes im still folding as NO1.

so do we all agree? the kits arent worth it? just get some defogger at pepboys?

whats ur multiplyer at? fishy is at 185FSB and your is?
did u use a lower multiplier and higher FSB?

Defogger and a crayon unlocked quiet a few XP's for me.

You can see in the pic my fsb was 155 so it was higher then {PMS}fishy's 12.5x155=1937.5mhz.

Does the FSB and the Multiplier settings factor into the sandra test at all? Also does memory settings have anything to do with the test?

hey im about to oc my Athlon 1900+ Agoga -Y and thinking about what method to use to unlock the bridges.. does deforger paint dry? or will it smear like conductive greese? and is it removable incase you make a misstake?

{PMS}fishy
08-24-02, 10:43 PM
Yes it dries. Its removable but requires a little more work than conductivte grease.

NO your FSB is much lower... Fishy is at 10.5x185fsb=1942.5MHZ
So fishies should have been much better due to his higher FSB. What kind of ram do u have? and how is it set on aggresiveness?

FSB is where all the power comes from. It OCs the whole system. 10x100fsb= 1ghz chip
7.5x133fsb= 997mhz chip
if u can set your system do run at either setting the one with the high FSB will win the benchmark. Even at the same CPU speed the one with a high FSB will be better cuzz that will OC your whole system.

RAM will make a huge difference in benchmarks. The faster the ram can feed the CPU the better the benchies. That y when u see RDRAM vs DDR the rdr will win all the time cuzz of the huge mem bandwitdh. The CPU cycle is way faster then ram so thats y u need alot of mem bandwidth to feed data to the cpu. Thats y they developed cache on the chips.

Yes very fast.

No unless its wet.

Yes not hard at all.

I just read that over I meant my multi was higher.

Crucial pc2100 the memory is on the most aggresive setting I could use but still at 155x2.

i used the highspeedpc unlocking kit and it worked fine the first time. i think considering it is a few bucks cheaper than what you pay for defogger kit and it comes with that handy magnifier it is very worth it. i dont see any problem with a little squirt of material in the bottom of the jars, it IS enough to unlock probably 25 cpus like they advertise. did you scrape the dots with a pin or something fishy? perhaps one of the bridges isn't connected because of the coating they put over the dots.

AZN
08-24-02, 11:05 PM
i never unlocked before just read alot of posts on it. from what i have gathered i guess you use the glue then scrap it off to get the protective coating off it. Then the green coating comes off and u see brown which are the connectors or pins. Now i understand the process. then after doing so u can use the defogger to connect the bridges... ah i c now. no simple pencil trick here haha
maybe im wrong about this, can some1 correct me. thx

i think the best method would be to use defoger paint and the highspeedpc.com kit combined.. like I would use the highspeed pc magnifiyng glass, and the pit filler compound, but use defoger instead of conductive grease. Anyone see any problems with this? Does their pit filler dry after liek 5 min? And do you think using the defoger paint over it will do somthing like rot away at the filler?

ya $60 vs $250 (lowest on price watch)

i think its defently a p4 killer not all us have money to burn.

Do i really need to explain this once again??? Plz be alittle more open minded when comparing systems. dont stop at just the chip prices.
