Well, I was thinking that if we are going to discuss computers and electronics, modding, performance, etc....we should also have a section where we could discuss the Notebooks out today and the PDA's / Video tablets...etc. What if someone were to mod one? What if we would like to talk performance between out Mobile Lan party riggs? Just a suggestion but I think a Notebook / PDA Mobile section would rock here! Leave a reply if you think the same!
Cheers!

I would vote.. but your text colors are hard to read and I refuse to bother straining my eyes till you fix it :P
forum comments and suggestions?
I don't know if it would be very relevant in an overclocking forum?
Notebooks and PDAs aren't fantastic for overclocking.

I'll vote for it.
I'm getting one (PDA) myself and it doesn't necessarily have to be on overclocking. It's hard enough to find compatible software and hardware for those things (PDA's I mean). I'm sure you can mod those things somehow. Have you seen the article on the front page about laptop cooling mods?

General Hardware. Alternative modding, sofware...what do we need new sections for?

Ok, notebook computers surely deserve a section!

Notebooks aren't really that different from Desktops...modding and cooling are a bit different, but other than that everything is the same. As noted, we do have sections for those.
Stop the madness! When will it ever end
Won't happen. I got so much grief when I split up the cooling section (Which really needed it) about too many Forums to navigate that I will not add any more forums unless it is a really necessary thing.
Notebook and PDA postings are not that critical of an issue. Yes, I have and use both and would like a place to discuss, however, there's not enough interest to warrant a new Forum.
Just think, If I created a Forum for everyone's interest at the time, we could have a front page that takes 15 minutes to scroll and 30 minutes to load.... Hmmmmmm :)
Not picking on your valid request, just pointing out a scenario.

I dont know where you have been but there is ALOT of interest in these machines. But hey, its your forum to run and if you would like to remain behind the times thats your choice. Might I interest you in heading over to [H]ardForum and checking out the topics there? Not alot to scroll through and they DO have a Mobile section =)
Anyway, no worries, cheers =)
Yeah i'm keen for a forum on notebooks and mobile pda stuff. I just bought a pda the other day and its great and all but software on it is a little dated. Its so hard to find any decant software or updates that i can find.
On a side note does anyone here know how or if you can upgrade windows CE 2.11 to Windows CE 3.0 or higher or if not if there are any upgrades software or firmware.

Edit from original post
I like to remain behind the times
I just don't see enough of it to warrant a new Forum at this time. This isn't the theme of this place right now. I'm not going to jump on the band wagon just because [H] has it.
I'm an IT Manager, I use mobile devices every day.

Anyway, no worries, cheers =) its kinda ballsy to come to a forum that you use and learn from for FREE and start bashing the admin telling him hes behind times, when in fact hes not. We are not [H]ardForum if you like the mobile section then go to the [H]ardForum. I think they are fine where they are. Not enough people have questions/problems with laptops and pdas and they do they can use Genral Hardware, General Cooling, General Disscussion, Alternative modding, sofware etc..
I checked out [H] and it's the 3rd least used Forum.

Thats a good thing cause the third least used forum there equals one of the more used forums here...so that would be a good thing. As you can see over at [H] there are over 4,000 posts on Mobile devices alone, and people ask questions there all the time. Looks like a struck a nerve here, people telling me about thier "IT" crap, and people checking stats, and what have you, lol. I have learned here and I have taut here, so dont go thinking I dont know know didly, I do =)

if you check the main forum page you will see that only 3 of our forums have less posts: device drivers (go figure  ), forum comments/suggestions, and cyber deals.
i do not like your caustic tone towards a person who is not charging you a dime to browse this forum and learn.
if you do not agree with the way he runs the site, please make your home elsewhere.

Man, there are sections you can put your question in. We DON'T need a section for this. If there was a need, we would see a lot of posts on both notebooks and PDAs. This is an overclocking forum. You can't overclock laptops(ok you can, but not much, and its a whole different ballgame) and the same thing for PDAs. It would be as useful here as a Cyrix CPU forum would be.
If you want to talk about the performance of laptops as a lan rig, take it general hardware. Modding a laptop, alternative hardware. Need to cool a laptop to overclock it, how about extreme cooling. We can serve whatever you need without have a dedicated section. I suppose though that you would like to have a whole mobile section with its own cooling, memory, cpu, storage, etc. sections for each maker of laptops.
I am sorry if this feels a bit harsh, but you are being a bit pushy here. You are not suggesting a change, you are demanding one. If there is enough interest in this, then we will add a section, but posts on this subject are rare and other parts of the forum will acomodate them.

apple, i think it best to drop the topic man. you seemed ready to give, but then acted provoked, so, lets all just walk away from this thread.
max, give the guy a little time, a lot of the older (as in joined) members have been getting smacked outta the forums lately. don't be an antagonist. if no one speaks, no one will whine

Stop using hidden text guys, this is not the place to do that.

Do direct us in on some lastest mobile threads. I barely see any mobile threads. No offence, I think it's just a waste of space. I think you should take skip's word on it and all technical questions in General Hardware. The forum would die out fast. I think the majority of the questions would be "What is good, performance price etc" everything else is like general hardware.
The forums has enough threads as it is, the more will be harder to moderate and it will look unorganised if we keep on adding forums one after another.
