Fan for Taisol

I have heard about the FOP's and its ability to hold 80 mm fans... but which fan can I attach to my Taisol? Which one do you recommend for this heatsink?

which taisol is it, they make a couple that are 80mm long and 60mm wide which are perfect for attaching an 80mm fan to, you should do it like this though

If you wanna stick with 60mm tho, the YS Tech 26cfm unit is a great compromise between performance and loudness :)

It looks to me like you can easily attach an 80mm to the Taisol. Since it's 80mms long, just screw the fan holes into the heatsink. It will overhang the edge of the heatsink a bit, but if it is more powerful than the 60mm on it, not too much airflow will be lost.

i'd have to agree with Storm, i have the YS tech 26 cfm fan on my taisol and the noise is quite low, just need to get some quieter 120mm fans and i'd be set. according to via hardware monitor i have 40 C under full load @ 1.91 volts.

perhaps some U type bolts from a hardware store that are modified might work.

but the 47cfm ys-tech 80mm fan is about the same price as their 60mm and about the same volume it just performs better

I installed an 80mm fan on mine, it hangs over 2 of the edges, so i made a little 'L' shaped bracket for each side to hold the fan 1/2 inch above the heatsink. it works great.

the best way to mount an 80mm fan on a heat sink without some kind of duct is to have it lined up right on 2 sides and have it over hanging over your capacitors too cool them off

To hold the 80mm on the Taisol just use two rubber bands over the parts of the heatsink that overhang the processor socket and also around the fan.

This will hold it on there securely, then you can also make a tape shroud to position the air flow.

that extra airflow is much more useful to circulate air around the case and cool down the motherbaord, tape ducting like that doesn't push much air to the heatsink

Did you ever think about using a 80mm chrome fan grill? Mount the grill to the cooler & bolt the fan to the eyelets.

when I first put an 80mm on my FOP I used a grill to put the clips on, but it is quieter without it and it gives me a spare grill
