Which waterblock to use for my first w/c setup - Danger Den Maze-3 or Swiftech MCW462-UH.
Here's the plan so far: 7/16" ID lines & 1/2" fittings all 'round. Rad will likely be from D-Tech Customs w/home-made shroud(s) - $20 for a piece of tin sounds a bit much. May use 2-120 mm fans w/~85 CFM each in push/pull setup. Res made from a 6x6 junction-box from Home Depot. Pump: Via Aqua 1300; hopefully these pieces will get me a real flow-rate of about 90-100 GPH.
I'm gonna try to set all this up inside a wooden box that will go on top of the rig in my sig. Then O/C the cr@p out of it!:D
Any thoughts on which w/b to use - or suggestions to improve the setup would be appreciated. I feel like i've learned just about enough to get real dangerous at this point - but reading will only get me so far - gotta go for it!

Hmm... I vote for the Maze3. Poly or copper top, your choice.

Thanks for the input Hawk. If I go for the Maze-3, I'll get the coppper top. I've been seeing a few stories about cracked "plastic" with some blocks (not sure the DD block would be subjecct to that). That may just be a few people that over-tightened the barbs, but why play with fire?

Here's a vote for the Swifty, provided that you aim for a 1/2" system with a decent pump. And I wouldn't waste my time with 7/16" lines...

I'm hoping the Via Aqua 1300 pump will give enuff flow, whichever block I put on. Unfortunately I already got the 7/16 line.:( What I might try is drilling out all the barbs to 7/16 ID, so at least they won't squeeze down the flow-rate.

I have the poly top Maze3. I know that some of the first polytop blocks leaked, but they have been revised and I have not heard of that happening much lately. I am happy with my block, it looks cool and is easy to clean, (not that that has happend yet). I have removed the top several times and have not had any problems. as you said though, perhaps its better not to flirt with fire.
I would definatly go with the maze3 with a copper top, cuz there is less of a chance to leak and absorbs some of the heat from the bottom that is on the cpu.

Thanx guys, for helping me make up my mind - I'm gonna get the copper-top Maze-3. I'll be back later, after I've got all the parts and have a solid plan for putting everything together.

That's a bunch of BS. If there's heat reaching the top of the waterblock then something is seriously wrong. The only advantage is the fact that copper won't crack.
