I tried turning my ram levels down, increasin voltage, putin in and takin out pci cards, and a buncha other things u guys told me to do. But i suspect its my psu. Its 350watt, and when above 159, it either wont post, or the cdrom drive doesnt work. I would like to know what u guys think. Thanks.

How long have you had this chip? When did you buy it, to be more precise? The older XP1600+ cpus did not o/c as well as the ones from only a few months ago. You might have an older stepping.

yes, or in any type of hardware monitoring software. Is your ram rated at 2700 or above?

Yea, its 2700 high grade. And its on my gigabyte ga7vrx with via kt333 chipset. And even at 158, even though it doesnt post right sometimes, i get a steady 43* c under load with my homemade air cooling system.

Can you please tell us what components you're using, like mobo, me, ram type, psu rating, etc.

Sure, Got a gigabyte ga7vrx with via kt333 chipset, high end pc2700, (dont laugh, getin a new one soon) 40gig 5400rpm maxtor hd, GF2 mx200 agp overclocked, 16\10\40 cd burner,tv card, v92 modem, network card(10\100),4 usb 2.0 highspeeds, 350w psu, probably cheap, average system fan,and a standard floppy. I dont think i missed anything, except that i got xp pro, but that doesnt matter.
Make sure you change to a 1/5 divider to lessen the stress on other components.
Have you tried to change your fsb in the bios to 166? That's all I did when I first received my chip. If you ram is great quality, it should be able to handle it.

Just look in you bios for a PCI ratio or just Ratio
Options would be 3:2:1 or 4:2:1 or 5:2:1
