1) Scrape the dots several times. You'll see the crayon wax come off. Make sure its not anywhere near those dots.
2) Fill in the L3's with crayon also. These control the default multi, so this is just for added safety.
3) Get a friend to help you out by closing the defogger vial each time you do a bridge, and by shaking it up before you do each bridge. the stuff dries fast, and you should have both hands full... see below.
4) Use tape on the side with the bridges you haven't done yet. I use a small piece of scotch tape. Use a flat razor blade (box-cutter style) to mask off the side with the bridges you've already done. So both your hands will be full and your buddy's assistance will prove very helpful.
5) Use a safety-pin not the little brush that comes with the kit. Dip it in good and you'll get plenty on the pin. But it does dry fast so put the razor in place before you dip the pin and try to apply it quickly. You will probably get more paint than you need, but after about 20 or 30 seconds it will be fairly dry and you can sculpt it to shape. Clean the pin off with your fingernails before scuplting.
6) Sculpting is very important. You can trim excess paint away and shape your bridges correctly, even removing places where 2 bridges may have cross-connected.. The paint becomes semi-dry after about 30 seconds. Sculpting ususally takes very little time. Scrape gently, especially with green XP's, because you can cut thru the cermaic surface and expose copper which would ground the elcetrical connections. The last step is to press the paint flat when its dry with the pin although carefully, because it can crack and flake. Its not generally necessary, but I do it to make sure that the paint is in conact with the dots as sculpting can sometimes cause the paint to lift up a bit.
7) Inspection. Check with a magnifying glass to make sure no flakes of paint have connected any two btridges. Check that the "L1 lettering" and triangle next to it are not connected to any paint either.
This technique has worked for me dozens of times. Hope some of the advice is useful.
