We need details....what type of Motherboard do you have? Got good cooling, memory, and a good power supply?

All of these questions will determine whether you will be able to overclock and by how much

You may also want to read over the beginners guides at www.overclockers.com

Take it easy. Just takes a little time for some people to come in and help. As you can see from the posts above, people DO reply here.

As far as overclocking goes, we need to know the brand and model of the motherboard. I know it's a P4 board from looking at your links, but which one? There are many. Are you using RDRAM or SDRAM? What kind of cooler are you using on the chip? With this information, I think we may be able to help you get at least a modest overclock.

its a VIA chipset
P4X266-8233

with some luck you should be able to get that CPU to about 1566-1733... Sadly willy P4's were not the best overclockers.

guyz i have a felling he bought a manufactured PC from dell or gateway or somthing. Just who buys 1.4 P4 and builds it them selves? If my prediction is correct he is SOL cuzz it will be a intel board and u cant OC that. U need a 3rd party software and i havent done that or want to, so if some1 else had experience with it plz let him know.

Dude... it could be an older P4 system. And if it's a Via chipset, ain't no way it's an Intel board. He-double-hockey-sticks would freeze over before Intel would use a non-Intel chipset in their boards.

I recommend that you don't. Intel + Via chipset I think isn't a very good combo. And after reading what jazz mentioned about freezing, I don't think it's worth the hassle. The Williamette put out alot of heat so you'll be upping that amount of watts and since the Socket 423 wasn't so popular heatsinks are very limiting.

You can try it if you want. You can start by reading the guides on the front page of the site: http://www.overclockers.com

Beginner's Guide on the left menu.

Again, I just don't think it's worth it since the Williamette is a very poorly made core performance and overclocking wise.
