Im in the process of overclocking my PC, 2.0 northwood hopefully going to 2.8 Ghz.

in the bios i have the RDram set too 3 x 140 and volts to 1.625.
1.6 volts it wouldn't post but 1.625 would :)

Now why does windows have problems finding the Kernel32.exe.
SOmetimes it reports it has problems with the filesystem and askes for a re-installation.
Originally i had it set to 2.4, windows was happy. Yesterday i tried 2.6 windows reported the same errors. Today i set it to 2.6 with a last ditch effort and windows booted, i then ran Hot CPU tester for 6 hours and it passed all tests then i ran 3Dmark and got sick scores. 12257!!!

Now should i wait and let the 2.6 work in and maybe next week try 2.8 or is there a quick fix?
Thanks for all the help because without this forum i reckon i would have stuck at 2.4.

It sounds like your HDD doesn't like the high FSB. Have you tried setting your PCI divider high, or possibly locking the PCI CLK if you have that option.

i have it locked. Should i have it set to 2/3 or 2/4?

Well, if you have it locked at 33, then you should see no problems associated with your PCI cards and HDD's. I think I have the same 80GB seagate as you. I'm running my PCI CLK 15 or so Mhz over specs and I don't have any problems with it.

What kind of RDRAM do you have?? Its possible it could be giving you problems, but at 3 X 140 I really doubt it.

I may have to put my thinking cap on.
