Just was wondering how long you guy/gals go before you change the water in your bong....

As i dont know if it is just me or do your temps slowly rise with OLD BONG water?

Even after cleaning the waterblock out temps were still a few degress higher than when the water was knew.

Think about 45 days or so (+/- 15) the water starts to get "stale" and needs a change.... and this is even without and of the bad guys (bacteria) growing in the water.

any thoughts on this?

i still have to add water to the system...
if i have the fan on my bong (5'4) i lose just over 1 litre a day...
so i am still adding the last water back into the system...
but my res is about 20 Litres

And by change i mean, drain the system, flush the system (do any needed cleaning), and then add new water

i rarely cleaned mine, threw some propylene glycol in there to prevent bacteria, did a good job at keeping it clean for me and also lowered temp. i know some folks freak about putting anything in your bong, but propylene glycol has good thermal properties and is used to sanitize and winterize drinking water supply systems in rv's. you'll also find it's in a lot of foods you eat and other stuff like the deoderant you wear. so i don't think a little evaporating into the room would hurt. and it really helped my bong nastiness situation.

Just don't spill your bong water on the carpet.. you'll never get the smell out :)

The only thing that I can think of is mineral deposits in the system. That is really strange. Do you notice that the temps slowly rise or is it all of a sudden (a few days) that they are higher? Water doesn't break down, maybe things from the air are contaminating it. Anyone in the house smoke? Could it be dust from the air thats lowering the potential of the water. Next time you go to chnage the water, run it through a filter and see what happens.

no smokers in the house.....
temps are fine for a long time...
then i get a about a 1C a day incress in temps.
I do think it may have to do with dust in the water.... or something....
Only have Copper and Brass in the Mix... so that shouldnt be giving me any problems.

So looks like I am the only one with this type of problem then, lucky me

What about fan filters on the system. See if that makes any difference.

You're not the only one, my bong would need a water change now and then too. I think because it's mainly just the water that's evaporating, over time the mineral content is getting concentrated.
Of course, some of it is dust, you never filter the top of the bong, and dust settles into the tube at the top when the system's off (no updraft). Also, unless you're using a Heppa filter, there is some dust getting through that too, just microscopic. The waterfall is a great catcher of these particles too.

Just draining and refilling with fresh water did the trick, and usually dropped temps back to origional unless I needed a good cleanout with some CLR.
