Hi, I'm building a WC system to tame the athlon 2200+ beast :p
All I need now is a very good pump that is not too big (limited space).

Any suggestions ?

Thx

The Eheim 1048 pump, it doesnet use much space and has a good water flow - 10 L./min

well, I haven't connected my setup yet, but I've got a Rio1700 (purchased from a local pet shop for $45USD) and it's about 6"x4"x5" and it pumps out 250gph at 4'

ViaAqua 1300 Best pump ever. Have not had a single problem. Paid $20 for it. Best value ever.

That seems to be the choice of pump currently, I think it's a good bang of the buck too.

Maxi-Jet 1200 is a good one too.

Yeah ViaAqua seems better, but I have read many comments and most say that viaAqua is not so reliable and noisy and hot ...

Reliabilty has not been a problem. It does get warm (I would not run it submerged) but not hot. I cannot hear it over my radiator fans, so its not loud. With the pump on, case closed, and system off all you can hear is a light hum, its quieter than a microwave. Running it submerged does not quiet it. like most people believe.

I'm sure they're not, however if there was bad batch or something you would have probably seen complaints by now. If they are hot, I doubt it would be huge, like 2-3 degrees. For 20.00 you can't complain.

But, is it smaller than the 1048? Because, that's a good deal and if it's as good or better than the 1048 and smaller, I think I'll go with that one then.

I run the Eheim 1048, it is silent and barely gets above room (well case) temp. By far the best pumps.

i vouch for the maxijet:p they are awesome pumps!!! i measured min ehte other day, the body of it, without the impeller houseing was 1.5inchex2inchesx2.5inches, i really doubt you can beat that:p
the housing isnt even all that big either!

you can get cheap "maxi jet 1200"'s on Ebay. They pump 245 gallons per hour and are reletivley small. Infact i just got done modding the two I got, into Inlines...they are leaktesting now!
(everything crossed)

How do you know the temp of your pump? And, is that something watercoolers should worry about? :(

I have an ehiem 1250... however, if I could go back in time and get something else I would have got a maxijet or a ViaAqua. THey tend to be smaller than ehiems yet they have just as good performance...(from what I hear) :)

Using a cheapo magdrive here...

Is the via aqua capable of running in-line or do you have to submerge it? It's a pain to take care of this pump now.

I've got an AquaVia1300 right now, and I will be reviewing a Eheim 1048 (on it's way) - I'll have a comparison review between the two, as they seem to be popular contestors. :)

I favour Eheim pumps myself although they are more expensive, especially in the USA, (makes a change that something is). A pump is the heart of any watercooling system so it's really something not to skimp on quality wize,

Currently using a 1060, (which is a monster), but still very quiet in operation, picture shows size against a black Ice rad and a standard floppy disk.

I also use a 1046 for testing purposes.

If you run your rig 24/7 and are away a lot, you want the most
dependable pump you can get. I only trust the Eheims. They cost
a little more but you can trust them completely. :) Of course that
means something else becomes the weakest link in the chain. :)

First choice Eheim 1048
Second choice Eheim 1250
Third choice---there isn't one. :(

Yeah well my cooling system is a little different to most peoples, so requires a slightly bigger pump :p

The input tube is 30mm OD 24mm ID, the output is 18mm OD, 13mm ID.
