Mysterious lagging in games

I notice that on my new comp I lag in every multiplayer game I play. I think it has something to do with my wireless router. I am getting 22Mbps, so i think that should be enough bandwith, I just don't know what else it could be. Could Norton Internet Security have anything to do with it? Help would be greatly appreciated.

LOL.....

and yes I think internet security could do somthing...when I had dial-up and I had internet security running I would lag SO much....and then when I turned it off everything went smooth....then I uninstalled it and returned it...waste of money IMO...if you got a router like you say you do, its firewall should be fine

My Norton anti-virus was always causing me problems, so I just deleted it from my game machine. Also, before you start your game, type CTL-ALT-DEL to bring up the task manager. Look at the applications tab and the processes tab. You could have a virus or spyware on your machine. If you see something that you can't readily identify, post the screen shot here and someone here can probably tell you if it is necessary or not.
