View Full Version : waterall window
Well i'll be getting my water cooling gear next week and and i got the crazy i dea of putting a water fall window in the case :) Basically take two sheets of acrylic with a 1/8 or so spacing and seal it well all around except for an outlet and inlet and then run the hoes through it and create a wall of water to look through into my case. the water would then just run into a reservoir at the bottom and so on and so forth. However would anyone have any ideas of how to spread the watter flow out across the whole panel instead of just a little stream in the middle? any ideas and all input on this project will be appreciated. It's just an idea now but maybe i'll get just a little crazier ;)
Well do you mean a waterfall like as in its a big thick stream dropping? Or do you just want it so its spread out through the whole panel? If you want the panel effect I would try getting a small small hose/wire thing and put small holes through out it and place it lenghth wise along the top of the panel. That should work. The hose would work like those sprinkler hoses that have lots of holes in em and shoot out water. You probably could find a small clear little plastic hose from the hardware store.
I saw a case like that a while back in some gallery, and it was very cool looking. Like KiKal said, just put holes in a hose and that should be fine, or you could use small bubblers or possibly a mister or two.
To give you another idea, the case I saw didn't have the water going in between two sheets of acrylic instead, he made a regular window, and put a old mobo behind it. He then let water run down all over the old mobo, almost like it was raining. The real board and parts were behind the fake board. He ofcourse made the whole case himself, but just another idea for you.
EDIT: found it http://pcdb.overclockers.com.au/view.php?name=Volenti&page=pics
That is really cool looking. I dont think I had ever seen that before. If you look at the top of the case you can see were he did what I said you should do. Get a hose and put holes in it.

I like the look of that, looks like a easy mod, if you take your time.
thanks for the input! I never thought anyone else had tried this in a case anyway. I really like the hose with holes idea. I'm pretty sure i'll do it now but i'm going to have the holes covered up so you can't see it spraying. I have an aqua via 1300 pump and if i use a small diameter hose like the kind for air pump will it drop the pressure enough to adversely affect it's flow? when i get this done i'll post some pics.

you could also put just random shapes of plactic in between the two sheets and have it trickle down in several places. Sort of like the plinko board on The Price is Right but different shapes and more plinko chips.

hey.. if it reduces your flow .. you could connect another hose on the end of your sprayer hose and run that to your resivoir as well .. to act as kind of a overflow ... just an idea
