Is it posible to toast your onboard audio if you overclock the system. (I'm looking at the abit IT7-max 2.)
only if you had the pci bus really too high i think. even so, maybe system wouldnt post at that high, before you damage it at all.
what did it happen? does not the sound work anymore?
yes its definitely possible to fry your onboard audio by overclocking...but you can always disable it in the bios and buy an old soundblaster for cheap. Onboard audio is generally pretty poor anyway

Does the audio return if you bump the FSB back to stock? I have a board whose Onboard audio will cut out after 146mhz fsb.

Neptune, I have the same problem with my mobo, the on-board audio will cut-out at 150fsb (at 145fsb is okay). I always thought, the audio chip needs more voltage, but how? Maybe increasing VIO?
On-board audio will not fried, I guess.

Well if you are able to run audio when you're back down at a lower fsb, doesn't that mean you haven't fried it and maybe some settings are messed or something? Because if it were fried you shouldn't be able to make it work after you lower your fsb.

I'm pretty sure the IT7 has PCI/AGP speed locking, so you can just lock the PCI speed and not worry about messing up the audio.
