I have an athlon xp 2200+ and I was wondering what are some good cpu temps? I'm idle between 45 and 47c with the case closed and 40-45 with the case open. Underload it doesn't go over 52c, 55c with the case closed. I'm using a taisol cooler approved by amd using the stock fan. I'm getting my thermaltake volcanoe 9 and hope to see lower temps.

Well the Volcano 9 came in yesterday. I slapped her on and waited 10 minutes of doing nothing. 35c was the temp. after playing some games and doing prime 95 45c after 30 min of prime 95. I'm pleased and still using artic silver II today I''ve been running at 32.5c all mourning just surfing the web, playing mp3's and watching music videos.

I just built 3 folding machines with the 2200+ using the Dynatron DC1206BM-L/610-P-CU cooler. I run these 24/7 with the covers off.
It's strange. On two of the machines I have a full-load temps of 47-49. On the third I have full-load temps of 44-46.
I have seen this problem before when I bought two SK-6 coolers. One worked great but the other was hotter by 4-5C on the same CPU. I think it has to do with the quality of the construction. This Dynatron cooler is aluminum with a copper core. I don't think they did a good job of joining the copper to the aluminum on the hotter ones.
I went with this cooler because it is offically AMD recommended. However, the all-copper version (DC1206BM-P610) does have a slightly lower C/W and is probably what I'll use in future machines.

I have an AMD XP 2000+ and with the stock heatsync I was getting temps similar to yours. I built a refrigerated watercooling using a block and radiator cube from cool-computers.com, and the rest of the parts I got at home depot. I have a CompuNurse digital thermometer that I hooked up as of yesterday, and my max temp is about 32 degrees C, and that is running the computer on average load for several days. The thing can run for hours at max load at about 20 degrees C, but after about 24 hours of being on the temp climbs and tops out at 32. I am going to post pictures of the setup later today maybe. I have some OLD pictures here http://ghettoblasters.com/tomfiles/mycomputer/ but they several weeks old. Since then I have hooked up a 2 fan circulation system on the radiator, added a 2nd home-made radiator, got a different video card (from a GF3-TI to a GF4-TI), and added several other things to the system. :D

Just a question with my motherboard setting the vcore on auto it is 1.65 on my 2200. I think its too low so I have it running at 1.75 now. What do other people have their vcore set at. Also I am running stock speeds.

Hmm, my comp for some reason seems a little more stable at 1.75. But ill run 1.65 again to check. Is it bad to run it at 1.75?

i think it just makes more heat that way and u can over clock it more but i am not to sure on that
