Guys what do u think would be at least a bit faster for games and such?I guess the K6-3 has an advantage cause it has a 256KB L2 on-die cache, but on the other hand the K6-2 has 100mhz more. what's your opinion? I'm trying to upgrade an old Socket7 mobo, and it is running an MMX 233 @ 266, the mobo won't do more than 75FSB cause of PC66 ram, so I have the option to put the K62 in a SS7 mobo which has multis upto 5.5 (+ the hidden x6 of the K62) and a 100FSB.
In short, I've got a choice either put it in a mobo that has a K6-3 installed at 450mhz, or just put it in the old Socket 7 and run it at 450 too (75x6)
OR put the K6-3 in that mobo and run it at the same 450 (75x6) and the K6-2 in the SS7 and OC to 550 or more. (The K6-2 chip is a 500 which was garanteed to work at 550mhz, the K6-3 is a 400 chip, was mine once, and runs at 450 right now)
I hope this is not too confusing. please help.
