You can try using a Win98 boot disk, run FDISK, and wipe the Linux partition. Then you should be able to create a new primary partition which is FAT32.

The bios should see the drive no matter what OS is on it. I would double check to make sure it is hooked up right, and possibly check the jumper for the master/slave option. Then after it is recognized do what Yakbak said.

IBM drives have a high failure rate (60GXP, 75GXP), due to heat problems or something...my bro's 30GB 75GXP died 2 weeks ago.

There's a site on IBM's website that lets you enter in the serial number and error code from the IBM Drive Fitness Tool, and it should tell you if you can RMA the drive.

http://www.storage.ibm.com/warranty/jsp/arma31.jsp?ibmer=0

Also go through this checklist: http://www.storage.ibm.com/hdd/support/pre_rma.htm

You will get something similar back. They send you whatever is closest to the model and size drive you return. I got lucky once and a 3 gig drive died and I received an 11gig drive in the mail years ago. It was close to the end of three years and they no longer made anything similar to 3gig drive I had anymore. Thanks Maxtor!

From what I understand the IBM 120gxp drives are good, but other models are not so good. You can either try better cooling or selling the new drive you get and upgrade to something else.
