do nibbling tools work good to cut fan holes? i dont want to go out and buy a dremel because i dont have the money. i think i read somewhere you could use these to make fan holes but im not sure. can anyone help me out?
I suppose if your patient enough you can make a fan hole. You would need a drill or something to get the hole started. Something just as cheap as a nibbler is a pair of metal cutting shears which would probably work better. Just be sure not to rush it or you will bend the metal (<-- shears).

My friend has a nibbler and he did a 12" x 12" window in his Antec SX1030 and it worked well and looks nice.

Let me give you some advice. BUY A PAIR OF GLOVES. Used my nibblers to cut out my blow hole in top of the case and the window in the side. It only took about five minutes for the blowhole but it took about forty five for the window. After all of this cutting my fingers were actually bleeding from the nibblers rubbing against them. Also go slow. Nibblers will bend the metal just like the shears will if you get in to big a hurry. But yes they will work. You can get a cheapy metal drill bit to drill the pilot hole and any local hardware store for less than two bucks.

I used a nibbler to mod one of my lian li blanks to make a matching faceplate for my TDK veloCD, the nibbler was a life saver!!!!!! (keep in mind that this was very detailed work, I would suggest using the nibbler to get within a few mm of where you want the outside of the hole to be, and then using needle files to take down the rest, but unless you already have the tools (nibbler and needle files), its more expensive to buy them than a hole saw from a hardware store. I got my nibbler and needle files both from radio-shack for about $17.00.....lots of money for some tools I'm only going to use a few times. My advice is to go with the $4 hole saw ( if you have drill of course), it will take less time and make a perfectly round hole.
