CPU cooling programs ?

What is the difference between one of those CPU cooler programs and just putting your computer on standby when you leave it for a while (like overnight)?

Standby is much better. The cooling programs lower your cpu temp during idle or low cpu loads. In my KT7A running WinME with ACPI enabled, it made a lot of difference on the idle temperature of my Tbird, but little difference on my Duron. Don't ask me why.

Those cooling programs are bunk. I tried 3 different ones, and they didn't even lower my temp by 1 degree. Oh well, that's ok, the watercooler is humming right along, so no worries. :)
