I just got a MSI 4200 64 meb. The bundle in that box was great!!!
I see the 4200 has 3rd place on 3d mark 2001, what r your benchs w/ that card and waht kinda of O/C have you got w/ the 4200 line up?
ps....i read that the msi 64 ram is better than the 128....so you can o/c the 64 meg card a little higher.

See my sig for my scores and o/c.
Click the last line of my sig to visit the 3dm team site, so you can have a look on other values, too!

Damn, nice score BigSexy!
and good O/C as well. I wanted to see how high people got the core, I know the mem can go to 600.
My 3d mark was 8000...now I have not done any extensive tweaks and I know that my CPU and lack of ddr is holding me back from bigger scores.
But my life does not revolve around 3d mark 2001 scores...but it sure is fun to try;)
I like the card but was dissapointed that not all my games can run at 4 samples on 1280x1024...more like 1024x780 2 samples.
But then again my elsa gladiac did pretty good w/ all my current games, so a little extra fsaa is just iceing on a pretty good cake...now i cant wait to play Unreal 2003:D
Is that a SDR mobo Puer?
I ask because I have an SDR mobo and am considering a Ti4200 as well.

Yes, the asus a7v133 is sdram...my k7s5a is probably the better board to have the GF4 in, but I like my asus and too lazy to switch my rigs around right now;)
I think that if I did a defrag and a little more tweaking I should get a higher score w/ my card..I am off to mad onion right now to compare my score to see if I am bang on or low compared to other t-bird 1.4's.

Hi,
My MSI ti4200 64Mb gets me to 9.2K 3dmarks... at maximum overclock of 614/315, although I Normally run at 600/300. I am using also SDRAM, luckily overclocked to 150 FSB. I have improved cooling over stock (both core an ram), but not gained a single mhz
by doing so (although card runs a bit cooler).

getting a average comparison of users w/ the 4200 has shown me that my 3d marks scores are bang on or really low!
One test system on a review site had a faster chip and mem yet my bench was a tad higher: 8600 3d marks. Yet a ORB result comparison show peeps w/ a similar chip as mine getting mad scores...like 11000?!?! How are peeps w/ 1400-1650 mhz getting such mad scores? I know ddr and new MOBO may factor in but come on, that seems to leave me in the dirt?!?!
Is there some mad tweaking going on, or mad cheating?

my friend got like 8000 when he first got it, then like a couple months later after he installed 40.41 drivers he got over 10k without overclock

Phew, thanks jawsome! So it is the new drivers that are getting higher scores..I am using the det 30 right now...not sure I wanna tweak too much more just to get a higher 3d mark score.
At least I know my card is performing as it should:D
Gainward 4200 310/580. Usually my score is around 8200. It does run 100% stable at 315/585 but there is no reason to as of yet.

Thanks Cack01, i am feeling better now about my card.
ummmm...whats up w/ your avatar? I find it a slightly disturbing image as i make my way to bed....That is the last thing i want have in my head as i drift off to slumber land:p
Edit: last time me and the boys took off our shirts and danced while singing the praises of DDR, there was some trouble:eek: :D  :D
Well so far my shirt has stayed on, since most the time I play with my sis. But I'll use the shirt as a warning sign; once it comes off game over.
Here is my score: System specs are in sig, scores were taken at 300/515, but I have gotten a maximum stable overclock of 330/570 with this card
10589 3Dmarks (here's a link)

I got 11,949 @ 275/575 @ 1770mhz w/ my system that's in my sig. But have very bad news. I've only had my vid card 2 days and now get contant reboots and major artifacts that just freeze my pc even at 250/550. It' always when it's on HIGH DETAIL part. I tried lowering my speed to 1600mh but still constant reboots.
Anyone have any answers? What exactly are the display driver settings suppose to be. I tried Det 29.42. 40.41 and 30.82. Same problem.

I had some probs...until I switched back to det 29.
I think it was the det 30 that was causing the lockups on both my rigs.
So far the 29 has not been a prob

see http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=4410319
I'm using a PIV(i786) 1.6 @2.71Ghz, on a Soltek 85ERV with Corsair 3200T CAS2 memory @ 422Mhz CAS 2 T2 and a Triplex GF4-Ti4200 128 @ 315/625, with a Maxtor 6L040J2 40Gb HD.
ohh, yeah, water cooled too.
It's all silver, I really sould do a nice case mod to show off the pretty, pretty silver boards.
Pretty, so pretty, my pretty, pretty precious. So precious, my precious, MINE! ALL MINE!! MY PRECOIOUS....

Hmm I'd try some diffrent drivers, and try another nvidia card with the same drivers causing you problems to see if it is the vid card flaking out on you. Lately I've heard alot of negative feedback about the gainward ti4200's, truly a strange prob indeed.

i had my rig in the shop toda, and we were looking at what the prob could be....2 diff Nvidia cards froze up after a few min of gaming..we thought it was the card at first then found both cards froze....maybe a irq conflict, then we tested ram....until I came home and found my other rig froze up as well..."The Drivers"!!!!!!
I switched the drivers and all is well..the rig in the shop has not been tested yet....but i bet a shoe that it is those det 30 drivers!!!

Absolutely no problems w/ my trusty TNT2 vid card that I might have to bring out for a week or two whilel I RMA this Gainward.
Should I get the Asus or Abit GF4 ti4200?
Puer Aeternus

I assume Asus would be the better card, but right now for price and performance the MSI 4200 is a great deal!!!
You are guarenteed to always pay more for a Asus vid card! Will the asus O/C as well as the MSI or better?

How high will the MSI o/c to?
Puer Aeternus

I have heard that peeps have got it as high as 300/600, which is generally higher than the msi 4200 128 mb card will go. I am told that the 128 is the better card to get for upcoming games but I disagree..I believe that there is way to much hype over new games and what kinda harware you need. Max payne was over hyped and my GF2 GTS played it on high settings w/ 4x fsaa!
My current 4200 is a 64mb card and I have yet to clock it higher than 270/580...but I am just being cautious w/ my new toy.
well on average most msi owners who have the 128mb version get overclocks of 305/560, my personal best (while remaining stable) is 330/570 and msi throws in a ton of stuff with their 4200, I would reccomend the msi above most other gf4 ti4200's out there, also the 128mb version will pay off with next years titles, there are already examples like jedi knight 2, not to mention doom3 will definately benefit from 128mb of ram, however if you are just using the 4200 to sneak by until nv30 arrives you should be fine with the 64mb version.

If you guys don't mind my asking, where did you buys your MSI 64mb vid cards from? Newegg is currently out of them.
I normally leave my Gainward Golden Sample 128MB card on its stock overclock of 260/520, and I haven't really pushed it; I've only increased the speeds enough to get a 3Dmark score over 10,000.

Well being a Canadian I got mine in Canada...the price was really good in Canadian $ -$234,00-
But go to the cyber deals section and you will find links galore for online distributers...you guys are lucky that your cards are so cheap in the states...I was goig to order from the states but w/ exchange rate and shipping and handling it was about the price i'd pay for picking one up the street. So for my Canadian Comrades... PM me if you want some links to Candian deals for vid cards, I did a wahck of research before I bought mine.

Puer Aeternus your problem seems to be that you have SDRAM...that is REALLY holding you back right now...if you got DDR you can see atleast 2,000 point increase I would say...get DDR for the love of your gf4!!!:p

Sigh...You are right Spec ops. i was kinda thinking of swapping my hardware into my ECS mobo and getting ddr, I know that would give me a performance boost. W/ an extra 200$ to blow I would get a MSI board and a new CPU. until then, I remain in SDR land(but my rig still smokes my buddies rigs:D)

Well, I just placed my order for a MSI GF4 TI4200 64MB vid card since this Gainward is going straight back to the vendor tomorrow.
Hope the MSI doesn't give me any problems. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
I just got my Xtasy Ti4200 128MB card a couple of days ago, couldn't pass it up for $100..
Add that with my 1GHz Athlon 133mhz fsb, 512mb pc133 sdram, the 40.41 dets, and...
Stock at 250/446 I scored 7140 3dMarks
then I started to toy with OC'ing it a touch.. and it fried..no, just kidding! Here's what I got, also after bumping my proc up to 1050mhz (this Tyan mobo limits me there..)
Card at 300/545 scored 7784 3dMarks
In the settings, it maxes at 315/560, I'll SLOWLY see if it'll go that far, no artifacts at all so far..
Card and Proc @ Defaults (http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=4418129)
Card and Proc OC'd (http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=4430523)
Hell, I'm amazed even with the defaults after bumping up from my prev GF2MX 32mb card, and the fact that my cpu/mem is a big 'ol bottleneck, I plan on finishing up the upgrading process with an xp 2200+ and 333mhz pc2700 ddr.

I oughta try the 40 dets just for fun, to see what my score will be. I wont use em for reg use though, sounds like they are meant for benching only.
Your score is not to far of from mine....I understand that the 40 dets and ddr make all the diff....puts people up into the 10000 score area. benching is fun but for me it is day to day use that counts most. I bought the card to play games, not to compete for highest 3d mark 2001 score...sides, w/ the 9700 out, there is no competition...we have been smoked!
Yea, I'm simply doing this all for fun, besides, once I see where it all maxes out at, I'm putting it all back to stock speeds, I don't wanna OC my card for actual use until there comes a game that needs me to..
And, I haven't noticed ANY hinderance or holdback w/the 40.41s in my games :)
