pioneer dvd rom not reading any cds?????

i just got a new pioneer 106 slot load dvd rom, and it wont read any disks i put into it.. i put the disk in it spins sounds like it reads it, then it spits it out. i tryed upgrading the firmware, and still nothing. There seems to be no conflicts in the DM, and it reads on dma 4. So i really dont know what to do :-/

Regional settings set correctly in Device Manager? Shouldn't cause it spit it back out even if it is wrong, but worth a look anyway...

OK well it had aussie firmware, so i updated it to US frimware 1.09, and now it give me an error that the cd is currpurted. I REALLY dont wanna send it back.. But the drive does click wheil it trys to read the disc.

I'm guessing it doesn't read DVDs either...

Have you tried cleaning it?
Can you boot off of it?
Do you have another computer you can try the drive in?
